ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) -- A traveling Georgia minister who served two years in prison on bigamy charges for having eight wives has been jailed again on accusations of trying to marry even more.

At least four women claim Bishop Anthony Owens, 35, proposed to them after being released from prison in November 2005. Officials say there is no evidence he divorced the eight previous wives.

A judge will decide whether he should go back to prison.

Owens, who turned himself in April 30, had no comment. But his new fiancees are not keeping quiet.

Betty Dixon, 38, met him last March. "He was a slick talker," she said. "He told me God had sent him to me and I needed help."

Cheryl Selmon, 48, says Owens proposed to her last October. A month later, he proposed to Darlene Keeler, 42. Then he met 43-year-old Karen Ward and proposed to her.

"He said God gave him a message that he was going to move my family to California for a better life," Ward said. "I gave up my apartment. I took my children out of school. He said he is a real man of the Lord. But he is just a mess. I hate the day that I met him."

According to police reports, Owens' first marriage was in 1990. He said a misunderstanding of Mormon teachings led him to marry again in 1992, even though he was still married to his first wife. The he married again in 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001 (twice) and 2002.

Owens has said he did divorce some of the wives, but he cannot remember which ones.

Apparently, he follows a type of Mormon faith:

According to police reports, Owens' first marriage was in 1990 in Memphis, Tenn., Owens' birthplace. At the age of 18, he married 43-year-old Joanna Hill.

He said the marriage was troubled from the start and that a misunderstanding of Mormon teachings led him to marry 41-year-old Earleen Mabien in 1992, even though he was still married to his first wife.

Mormons who practice bigomy are excommunicated from the church now. I think any marriage would be troubled if you had 8 wives. That guy must have had a serious investment in Viagra. :laugh2: Anyways 8 nagging women? How horrible, and you have to figure one of them is always going through PMS.

Let's face it, anyone who takes more than one wife is either psycho or commanded by God. Cause why else would anyone do such a thing?

Face it, women are unbearable during PMS, imaging having to deal with 8 women a month going through it.

If women are unbearable, perhaps a check of the surroundings might be in order? Cranky, yes.. Hungry, yes.. But, completely unbearable? No.. then something else is wrong.

From what I've read, when a bunch of women are together for long periods of time, their cycles synch up. So basically, you'd have 3 1/2 great weeks, and five days where you just better not even show up.

No, they are unbearable that time of the month, not all the time. What would men do without women? I mean who would cook and clean and ut up with our crap?

What's the deal with him being 18, and his first wives both being in their 40s? I think he was taken in by some weird teachings as a kid, and got messed up. He probably has mother issues, too.

As for PMS... I know SOME MEN who take periods of greater crankiness/irritability/irrationalness (yes, that IS a word!) than SOME WOMEN do during PMS. So there.

Well, you can discuss all you like, but this is one of them discussions the ladies always seem to win, so while you *can* discuss it, it's pretty much pointless.

(The best time to discuss it is after PMS time tho :))

Our erections or lack thereof should not be of interest to the ladies???

Sure they should. Not sure if that's an accurate analogy or not though.

HUH?? Duude.. you're in the wrong thread. Again.

You have no idea what you're responding to. Again.

You're typing just to get words on a screen. Again.

THIS thread is about 8 wives, with the occasional PMS comment thrown in - NOT about your inability to get it up.

THIS thread is about 8 wives, with the occasional PMS comment thrown in - NOT about your inability to get it up. Your response herein is just as inane as you latest Rep comment. (thou I have to say that for the first time, your comment, (however dumb) did not contain any obsencities)

Of course, as usual you misconstrue what is said. I said nothing about whether or not "I" could get it up. the comment was generic. Do you have any Idea what that word means.??) You seem to think that everything I say is in reference to me. It isn't. there are some six billion people on earth, and they do have common actions and concerns. This site is not all about me. I wish you could recognize that.

But, I find the above emboldened portion rather hypocritical coming from you. Why don't you try posting about issues instead of personallities.

yep, I know that is what I am doing at this point I would gladly stop of you would, but you don't. AND I will continue to respond to your personality garbage, every time you go that direction. But i won't instegate it.

Oh I see, you choose to introduce erections (or the lack of) into the thread, not to talk about your own penis but everybody else's.

Ok, From polygamy to generic fallacid penises, what a great thread, Thanks Doniston!

It doesn't matter if it was a comparison, you still introduce the topic of erections into the thread. You may see some relavance but few others do.
