Wow. Did we push WS over the edge? Was he/she one of those?

(Reuters) - Buddhist vigilantes in western Myanmar attacked a passenger bus and killed nine Muslims, police said on Monday, the deadliest communal violence in the tense region since a reformist government took power a year ago. The bus was besieged near Taunggoke town in the western state of Rakhine on Sunday evening by a group who blamed some of its passengers for the murder of a Buddhist woman a week ago, said local residents and politicians. One of those killed was travelling in a separate car.
Rakhine is home to Myanmar's largest concentration of Muslims, but their presence is often resented by the Buddhist majority. The resentment is particularly sharp for Rohingya Muslims, whose roots date back to the 1820s when they were brought to the country as laborers by colonial power Britain.
Ko Kyaw Lay, a local Muslim and a human rights activist who belongs to an opposition party, said none of those killed were Rohingyas.

Religions of peace lead to more deaths. And yet, Christianity is picked on by more than any other religion in the world. And outside of a few cases, they certainly aren't the ones out there abusing and killing others. Some have woken from the dark ages and have become civilized, others prefer to remain where they are.

Civilization comes from the Holy Ghost. Living the principles of the Gospel invite the Spirit into our lives. It's not surprising that if you study the scriptures and try to live the principles taught in it, will make us more civilized.

Let's make the world alot more civilized. Study the scriptures and find a principle to live every day. Then act in faith to live it. Experiment on the Word and you will find undescribable joy.

Some relgions are worse than others, and that fluxs with time, atm the most obviously damgerous IMO is Islam, followed by Hindusim and 3rd world Chritianity. Generally when you get down to 1st world Chritisanty the 'dangers' invloved are not issues of life and death, but rather freedom of choice within the bounds of a free civilized society. Then at the bottem uou have buddhists, spiritualists and ao forth, this is a freak event.

Gotta get in those Christian jabs, huh? LOL

But you're wrong. There is no freedom of choice issues within Christianity. Every last person is free to come or go without fear of repercussions. Are they going to kill apostates like they do in Islam? Nope. Do people get beaten for consorting with those of another faith? Nope. No one is "forced" to do anything. Go become a cheering squad for the Westboro Baptist church if you prefer and not a single thing would happen to you from the Catholic church.

I specifily put in a sentence to seperate Westernized Christianity to poit out how moderate it is by comparison, yet 'oh, there's noir picking on the Christians' >,> like i said tgere are (except in extreme cases) NO issues that will be life and death, the isues are much more akin to 'should christainty be presented in the classroom to young children as fact' or 'What would the impact of a soul bave on the reproductive rights of woman' etc, issues that are discussed and debated freely and without threat.

I can only assume you thought you knew what id written wothout really reading it, and then proceeded to tell me how i was wrong by, er, expanding on the points i'd already made.

Nope, I read your post quite clearly, and you quite clearly wrote "freedom of choice" - and that there were "dangers". Not sure about over in your country, but here in the USA there is no danger if you choose to be a Catholic/Christian, no danger if you choose not to, no danger if you choose to and then leave. It's 1000% free as a religion, you choose every last thing to follow or not to follow.

Oh, and unless you CHOOSE to send your kid to a Christian based school, they won't be being taught about Christian related matters while in a classroom.

Also just on the last point, all schools in my country are christian schools, you have no choice.

I think his point about third world Christians at least was valid. But hard to say the cause of the way a few savages act is b/c of their religion.

My bad then, if you agree that Christianity is 100% free choice. Nothing is being forced on anyone, not a single decision. 100% of it is voluntary.

As for your country, that sucks, forcing anyone to go to any religious school is wrong. They shouldn't be forced into religious schools and shouldn't be forced to any type of school for that fact. They should simply look out for the welfare of the children and ensure they are all offered an opportunity towards an education. There is really no public school system at all? No other religious schools? Just 100% religious schools?

Maybe so, but that's not what I was addressing. But if I may...

Look at the Christians in Egypt for example. They are 3rd class citizens over there and get jailed, beaten, blown up, have laws overlooked... I don't condone it, but I can understand why Christians over there might be a little more violent than Christians in the US.

The schools are public, we have no seperation of Church and State, infact the head of our state, the Queen, is de facto the head of the church of England. So you basically have two choices of schools for your kids, Catholic or Protesant public schools. Ontop of that there ofcourse private religious schools.

It is no end of frustration to see my brother (7) coming home amd telling us that for homework he has to make a posters about the 'Son of God' or 'the real meaning of easter' etc.

I know you weren't addressing that. I didn't touch the part you did address b/c I agreed with what you wrote.

And I BELIEVE Egypt has moved up to 2nd world status  :fu: abso

I was thinking more along the line of somewhere like Rwanda where those "people" have been killing each other for centuries. I don't think I'd blame that on Islam or CHristianity, but rather I'd blame tribalism.

Just like when we killed the Native Americans we didn't do that b/c of our religion.

Now , I know Noir, or someone else, will come in here screaming "well you can say the same thing about ME Muslims BUT when some brown turd yells "alluha ackbar" and then blows his own ass up well obviously we know he acted based on his religion so that is invalid unless and until I see a Christian yell "Long live Jesus" right before killing someone.

Oh, ok, I get it now. That's fucked. I guess over here we take those things for granted. If you want your kid to go to a religious school, it's voluntary and you pay for it. Otherwise, it's public schools, funded by taxes mostly, but the separation is there.

You aren't following the news then! It's possible they may be electing a member of the Muslim Brotherhood to lead their country. And if so, how long do you think it'll be before Shariah Law is put in place? Poor bastards.

That is the case, but socioeconomically they more fit the mold of a second world country. Of course if that guy DOES get elected he will no doubt do his best to move them to third world status b/c that is where the Muslims like their population, give them too much freedom, money, or education and they might realize what a crock Islam really is.

Do 2nd world countries kill those of other faiths, and have their governments and police blindly look away? They might have the mold of a better country, but their actions are still in the stone age.

2nd world nations are generally Eastern bloc communist/socialist nations. I might agree with your assessment prior to 1962 but currently they are firmly a third world country.

If your religion is offensive to the ruling party? Yes, they do

Then I submit, that if a nations leaders kill or abuse their citizens, solely because of their faith, that they ARE still 3rd world nations. :)
