I am with my family on vacation in Massachusetts now, typping this on a laptop computer in a motel. Brought them to Lexington, MA yesterday, and stopped at the Battle Green, where colonists fired shots at the British troops who had come to their town to take away their guns.

Found this stone on the Green, about 75 yards from the bigger memorial. It contains the orders given by the American captain of the farmers who showed up to try to resist the then-finest, most powerful army in the world.

When I can get the photo I took myself of the stone, I'll post it here. But this is exactly what was there.

"Stand your ground" is about as American as it gets.

I don't know how anyone can think 'Stand Your Ground" or the "Castle Doctrine" is un-American. You may disagree with a particular implementation but anyone disagreeing with the underlying theory should be shipped off to Britain :salute:

My father told me as a young six year old about to enter school, "son if you ever back down from a fair fight I will spank you and make you go back and fight that fight anyways. If you fight and lose you should feel no shame as the better fighter won. Just strive to be better. As I would rather you spit in my face than lie to me , then I would rather you lose every fight you fight than for you to run away from just one fair fight! A man has got to learn to carry an ass whipping just as well as he gives one! I've never forgot that, never made my father ashamed and never will.
Of course it has cost me dearly in my life but standing on principle almost always does.-Tyr
