July 5, 2012, 1:14 PM EST
WENN

British TV producer Norman Felton, the man behind classic shows "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." and "Dr. Kildare," has died at age 99. Felton passed away of natural causes in Santa Barbara, Calif., on June 25, but news of his death emerged only after it was confirmed by the trade paper Variety.

Bing: Norman Felton

Felton found success in the 1960s when he worked with James Bond creator Ian Fleming to develop the spy thriller "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," and he scooped up a Golden Globe for the series in 1965. He was also nominated for an Emmy Award the following year.

His other small-screen hit was the hospital drama "Dr. Kildare," which launched the career of Richard Chamberlain in the title role as the young doctor. In the 1970s, he continued to work as a producer on the legal drama "Hawkins," which featured Sally Field, Leonard Nimoy and James Stewart. Another career highlight came in 1997 when he was made an honorary member of the Producers Guild of America.

If we disagree on everything else, there is at least one thing we can agree on!

Many thanks.
Hot dog, I will buy that for 99.95. I'll get as much fun out of watching it a second time as my son will the first. Had no thought that the series would be offered like that!--Tyr

1960's and 70's tv shows had the best theme music, without question. There are some great themes from other decades but the level and numbers of VERY COOL to Awesome themes from the 60s and 70s is amazing.

I barely remember UNCLE similar to my memories of Dark shadows, I was very lil kid and caught reruns.

But you know shows like this make you wonder about the hard core conspiracy folks assertion that TV is used to "preprogram" the masses for things "they" want you to believe are good.

IF, I said IF ... did i mention I said IF... IF it where in anyway true this show was a great platform for getting people used to the idea of a secret international Police Force, a U.N. police and spy division, based out of New York no less. that only does good of course.

just a random thought, fun show though

Thats right the opposition was the infamous THRUSH. My memory lapse and I used CHAOS which was the opposition in the great comedy show -Get Smart. I loved that show too! Both shows featured some hot women!-

Yes, that's it !! I was trying to place where CHAOS came from, from these shows. And yes, before you ask, both these were screened in the UK (I think by the BBC, believe it or not ..).

Smart had a hot sidekick, didn't he ? Agent 99, if I remember correctly ?

The UK ran its own secret agent series ... though we tended to veer away from any comedy aspect. Was 'Callan' ever screened in the US (starring Edward Woodward) ?

Yes, I had the hots for the actress that played the part of Agent 99. Man From UNCLE had the better looking gals in my opinion. Now the Avengers had that girl I would have gave somebody else's right arm to bed.-;)
Diana Riggs I believe was her name. Man , was she a stone cold fox!!!!!!!!!!!!--Tyr

I never saw "Callan" but we did get " The Avengers" I always assume that was British import spy program.

Secret Agent Man was a big one back then along with I Spy. I believe SAM was a Brit show, he never carried a gun.
