California burger chain Slater's 50/50 (http://www.slaters5050.com/) may be bringing home the bacon, now that its menu features a burger made of 100 percent ground bacon. Not to gild the lily, but the Fourth of July-inspired The 'Merica burger comes topped with a slice of thick-cut bacon, bacon island dressing, and bacon flavored cheddar cheese. It's only nonbacon topping is an impressive sunny-side-up egg.
Foodbeast (http://foodbeast.com/content/2012/07/05/slaters-5050-debuts-a-100-ground-bacon-burger/) notes that Slater's 50/50 has already made a name for itself by offering its flagship burger made of half ground beef and half ground bacon. Sadly, the three Slater's stores will only be offering the all-bacon burger through the end of July.

Eggs and bacon burger for main course... with the bacon sundae for dessert. Now all we need is bacon fries on the side. :thumb:

Given the majority of Americans are now fat or obese, is the apply named "'Merica Burger" art imitating life, or something more of a darker twist?

Majority? Not quite... only 28% of Americans are considered clinically 'obese'. But then...Mexicans rank 30%...UK 25%...New Zealand 27%...Canada 24% etc etc. I'd say its is not 'just' a problem in the US, but of today's culture in general.

a)I said the majority of Americans fat or obese, not just obese.
The numbers vary slightly but a reasonably conservative figures show around 36% of Americans are overweight, with a further 26% being obese. 60%+, the majority, fat or obese.

b) Never said it was an America only problem, just that it was aptly named given it is a reflection on the society of which its name is derived. I'd of said the same if the story centred around a british eatery, with a burger named after Britain, but as it happens it wasn't.

It's about time.

Why has it taken science so long to come up with this?

What is the obsession Americans have with bacon? I mean, I love bacon too, but I don't want bacon flavored dressing or ice cream!

Bacon is a well known aphrodisiac, just ask me.
