Looks like Obama's influence over his own party is starting to fade
I wonder how Obama's re-election staff in the liberal media will blame Republicans and Mitt?
[QUOTE]
Republicans, eager to put Senate Democrats on record on taxes, tried to force a vote Wednesday on President Obama's proposal to extend middle-class tax cuts but raise taxes for the rich, but Majority Leader Harry Reid objected, essentially sidelining the president's plan.
Sen. Mitch McConnell, Republicans' leader, tried to set up competing votes — one on the GOP's plan to extend all the tax cuts for one year, and another on Mr. Obama's proposal to extend them only for households making $250,000 or less.
But Mr. Reid objected to the request, saying he didn't want to have the vote on the GOP's legislation.
"It's the help Paris Hilton legislation," he said. "It would give people like her a tax break for doing nothing — $46 billion of the American people's money to help Paris Hilton and others."
Mr. McConnell said he was just trying to get senators on record so voters could see which senators supported the president and which supported the broader tax cut.
"The Senate should make itself clear which policy it supports. This is our chance to do it," he said.
The tax issue has become complicated for lawmakers. Some Democrats, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, have mooted a higher threshold for extending the tax cuts — up to $1 million in income.
Meanwhile, some Republicans say they're ready to embrace ending tax breaks in order to use the money to head off looming defense cuts, according to the Hill newspaper.

I don't see this as Senate Dems turning away from Obama.
This is clearly politically motivated by Republicans and Reid is not willing to have that fight...YET.
Never fight your enemy on the battlefield of his choosing.
We need to get a little closer to the election I think before this gets going because it carries a lot of rhetorical weight. The Democrats will accuse Republicans of not wanting to give the middle class a tax break and the Republicans will accuse the Democrats of wanting to raise taxes.
Bammy is already a lame duck.

I think they should ALL be publicly flogged for playing games on the tax payer's time.

Agreed. One the one hand I enjoy the sport and drama of Politics, on the other I get pissed at political gamesmanship which serves in the majority to safeguard and/or further their own careers while their constituents sit on the sidelines waiting for them to do what they were elected to do.

Obama began to fade Politically when he first became a Senator for Ill. His political, Socialist, Marxist career in politics has been Fading with Every Lie he tells on a daily basis.
The Democrats who CLAIM to support Obama, only do so because they fear being Labeled...just as they so easily label Republicans who disagree with Obama.
The worst thing any Democrat can do is DISAGREE with their chosen, Pretender in Chief if they intend to remain in Politics for more than One term.
Those Dems who voted to REPEAL Obamacare, all have really hard, competitive fights in the next election. So. Rather than continue to Lie like Obama. They choose to remember how their constituents Will Punish them for Siding with Obama.
TRUTH IS. It doesn't really matter to many Democrats. They know they will be TAKEN CARE OF FOR LIFE...no matter what Lies they agree with Obama about.

Exactly so, I'd flog every one of them, and if any protested that they weren't guilty THIS time, I'd just use my dad's line "well you deserved it for something we didn't catch you doing"

and so he did, without names. LOL! Somehow one thinks generalizations is a substitute for actual knowledge. Then again, one can later say they didn't 'mean' what they were obviously inferring.

Seems to me Obama and Reid are playing the old game of good cop/bad cop. Neither wants to step up to the plate, make a decision, and do their job.
That’s the problem we have with Obama and Dems running 2/3 of the governemnt, No real leadership

When I first read CH would have ALL of them flogged, I pictured CH in the British Navy. He resembles Capt William :laugh2:
