Pop superstar Madonna has addressed the controversy surrounding the use of a swastika in her world tour, insisting the image was chosen "purposefully."

Bing: Madonna's controversial tour
The singer has come under fire for screening a video which shows a swastika imposed on the face of France's Front National party leader Marine Le Pen during her MDNA tour. Le Pen has threatened to sue Madonna, who in turn defied the politician's warnings by refusing to edit the footage.

Now the Material Girl has defended her decision to include the swastika, a symbol used by the Nazi Party. Madonna tells a Brazilian TV channel, "All images in the video were chosen purposefully ... That film that was created is about the intolerance that we human beings have for one another and how much we judge people before knowing them.

You prefer censorship? This sort of display seems to be right up her alley though.

She was just right to use the Swastiki, I'm glad she's sticking to her guns and bot trying to paw it off as an "error" or a "misjudgement" but rather making totally clear it was her choice, and what she wanted.
Can't say I've bought anything of hers either.

No, I prefer Americans that dont use swastikas and that would promote what IS GREAT ABOUT THIS NATION
rather than always trying to promote real or (mostly lying)implied negatives.
She is perfectly free to be the ignorant slut that she is. Just as I am free to not buy her trash and make known my opinion of her trashy and ignorant antics.-Tyr

I believe she was in France while making her views known about a French politician. But yes, she is free to practice her ignorance in an attempt to stay relevant or merely remain in the news.

What exactly is ignorant about calling the leader of the National Front in France a Nazi?

I don't have a problem with her using it, just as I wouldn't have limited Sinead O'connor ripping up a picture of the Pope on stage 20 years ago or so. I don't agree with their statements and images, but wouldn't want to forcibly stop them and create any negative precedent. I just wouldn't go to their shows or buy their work.

Madonna has always gotten attention and media as a result of her antics. And that's why Sinead did what she did, and now we have this retard "Lady Gaga" doing crap and dressing like an idiot for attention. Idiocy sells!

You don't agree that the National Front are Nazi-like organisation both in practice and ideology?

And I would add: Nor would I let my minor child go or buy her stuff.

If I've ever seen a question that answers itself, this is it.

Self expression is vital to the Republic. This is just Madonna being Madonna - she's always been controversial.

Nothing to see here.

Madonna's self professed intention is to shock people. The Scottish government ask her not to use fake guns in her stage act. She did it anyway. Same way as she bared a breast in Turkey to protest censorship.
When you are someone like Madonna or Lady Gaga, shock and showmanship is more important than music.

Yes, she is free to be as stupid as she cares to be. Her attempts to stay relevant should fail but as we know most people see stars in a different light. I see her for the idiot that she is..-Tyr

Regardless of stupid you believe she is, the national party of France has held some views quite reminiscent of national socialism, including historical revisionism of wwII war crimes. Her mentioning that shouldn't be automatically dismissed. LE pen has distanced Herself from this view, but nevertheless her party has held that view. I find it odd that were it a moderate Muslim being attacked for historically Islamic views of the same nature, you'd assuredly buy into the rhetoric used by Madonna-- but here it appears you do not.

The subject is not Islam ,the two can not be compared in regards to my opinion concerning Islam.
I often find it quite odd that people so righteously deny Obama's socialism/marxism but that also has nothing to do with a singer pushing an issue just for the publicity in order the enhance her failing career. Apples and oranges my friend.
Dont expect the idiot to come out against muslims do ya? If you do , dont hold your breathe waiting for it to happen, ok.:laugh2:-Tyr

You'll find the views of Mr Penn about as delightful towards the Jews as most hard line Islamists, though apparently his daughter isn't as anti-Semitic so I guess that's process of sorts...
