Kenya: 48 people killed in tribal clashes

23-08-2012

At least 48 people have been killed in clashes between two rival groups in Kenya on Wednesday. The attack was among the worst incidents of violence in the country since post-election unrest in late 2007.

"It is a very bad incident .... [The dead] include 31 women, 11 children and six men," said Joseph Kitur, regional deputy police chief of the rural Tana River district where the violence took place.

"Thirty-four were hacked to death and 14 others were burnt to death," said Kitur, adding that several huts were torched.

According to Kenyan newspaper The Nation, most of the dead were women and children caught up in the fighting.

Yes, just caught up and accidently hacked to death..
Burned to death, women and children hacked to death, sure seems like the usual muslim peace offerings to me!-Tyr

Judging by the high percentage of women and children killed, it wasn't any kind of "tribal clash", it was an outright massacre.

Notice it stated "two rival groups" not two tribal groups. Yes, obviously was a massacre. Just as obvious to me that it was muslims doing the murdering . Also obvious that the Press is doing its usual protecting job for the socalled religion of peace.-Tyr

Police and residents say at least 100 members of the Pokomo clan raided a village inhabited by members of the Orma group, late Tuesday.

POKOMO

The Pokomo are an agricultural and fishing group who live in the flood plain of the Tana River from its mouth at Kipini to Mbalambala, north of Garissa. Inhabiting the area since the 17th century, these people have learned to accommodate themselves to the flooding river and benefit from the silt and water which these floods provide. The approximately 50,000 Pokomo are divided into two distinct groups along religious lines. They are the Upper Pokomo who are predominantly Muslims and Lower Pokomo who are Christians.

The first Christian missionaries came to the Pokomo in 1887. The Pokomo who were living in the lower part of the Tana readily accepted the Gospel and adopted Christianity by 1914. The Upper Pokomo adopted lslam between 1920 and 1940 and only few are Christians. The Upper Pokomo makes up about 75% of the Pokomo people and there is a need to minister to them.

The traditional marriage and dowry system is still practiced among the Pokomo. Marriages are often arranged by parents and is considered permanent once the dowry has been paid. The exception is the Upper Pokomo, where the Muslim practice of divorce has been introduced.

The substantial cultural changes which came about as a result of the introduction of Christianity and Islam, all but wiped out the older people who still hold traditional beliefs.

Pokomo are about 75% Muslim, 20% Christian and 1% traditionalists. This reflects the significantly larger population of Upper Pokomo over Lower Pokomo."http://www.ww4report.com/node/11425

Sure tribes clash and so do muslims clash with christians, even christians retaliating back against muslim murders. The cover story of it merely being tribal disputes comes in handy and has been used to protect the muslims. 75% MUSLIM VS. 20% CHRISTIAN and you pretend no way it could have been religious fighting. Bullshat.. The press lies same as you.. The massacre points to it being a muslim thing as usual.
You only proved your bias and your foolishness by repeating the lying cover story the press went with! Thanks for shilling. -Tyr

Jafar will tell you either those people didnt die or else it was only the ignorant muslims that can not read doing the murdering. Lets just go with his excuse of ignorance, does that make the victims any less dead? Jafar apparently thinks it absolves Islam of any association even though they do it in the name of Allah ---AND ARE TRULY MUSLIMS...Convenient as hell, eh?-Tyr
