He's now established his differences with the present administration's approach on foreign affairs. I watched it on C-SPAN at my friend's home. He's going to approach it from 'peace through strength.' Basing on the Marshall approach that the only way to win a war is to prevent it.

He also said that foreign aid would be for friendly countries that work with us and allies, they would be made with stipulations. Wants the world to know where the US stands on issues and principles.

When I heard he was going to give a 'major speech' on foreign policy, I was like, "Oh no! Why forearm Obama before the next two debates?" After watching it, I'm even more optimistic about his being elected. People who hear of the speech, I sure few will see it, may bother to find out more about how we left Iranian revolutionaries out to dry; what is going on in Syria, again leaving the people to be slaughtered; why Libyans are pleading for support against 'the militias' aka al Quaeda and sympathizers.

Obama can only restate what he's done regarding 'hope' for the past 4 years and will have a very hard time saying that our relations with the Middle East, China, Africa, Asia are better off by his leadership. Putin's long shadow via Russia and new democracies was also flitted upon.

All we need to do is remember. OBAMA has NO record he can HONESTLY brag about. While Romney only needs to remind everyone what they will get for FOUR MORE YEARS, if they are foolish enough, or selfish enough to vote for Obama again.

what is going on in Syria, again leaving the people to be slaughtered;

I don't see why we should not leave the Syrians to slaughter each other; they do this every few years -- Assad's father killed some 10,000 Palestinians there, after all. Syrians are enemies of the United States, enemies of Israel, and close allies of Iran. Could we PLEASE not go into yet ANOTHER 10-year losing forever war for some worthless Muslims?

I am opposed to any more Muslim pretend social work wars where we go in to "help" them with lots of bombing. But nobody wins, nobody ever leaves. It's like a mouse in a glue trap: once in, never out.

And another thing about Romney and foreign policy: I don't like his fundraising inside Israel.

Why is an American pol taking money from foreigners? The whole point of there being a law against taking campaign funds from foreigners is so the pol in question isn't bought body and sold by foreigners and they control what he does and when he makes war and who against.

Romney went to the Hotel David to raise money from a lot of Israeli rich people; supposedly "dual citizens" ha, ha --- but they were living in Israel and why? Because they are Israeli.

So now when they say hop, he'll jump. Oh, great.

No mention of what the other side did last election and is repeating:

Claim: Obama campaign illegally solicited foreign donors via social media website 8:17 AM 10/08/2012

President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign has been soliciting foreigners for donations, an explosive report from the conservative Government Accountability Institute (GAI) shows.

Those foreign donors are allegedly visiting the Obama campaign’s donation solicitation Web pages through a social media website the campaign controls, and through an outside website that serves mostly Internet users from outside the United States.

About 20 percent of visitors to the “my.barackobama.com” social media website “originated from foreign locations,” the report found. That Web address is owned and controlled by the Obama re-election campaign.
“At no point during the [website's] subscription process is a visitor asked whether he or she can legally donate to a U.S. election,” GAI notes.

“Once a visitor signs up, he or she immediately begins receiving solicitations for donations. In fact, numerous foreign nationals report receiving solicitation letters and thank you emails from the campaign for their support. Some of these emails have been reposted on blog sites to encourage friends to click on the donate link or get their names on the email list.”...

The group identified such Obama fundraising solicitations sent to Chinese, Azerbaijani, Vietnamese, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian and Egyptian bloggers.

In a report accompanying the GAI report’s release, former U.S. Attorney Ken Sukhia concluded that the Obama campaign is clearly soliciting donations from foreign nationals. Sukhia served as counsel to President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney on military and overseas ballot cases during the 2000 election.

“The GAI Report has shown that the Obama Campaign actively solicits campaign contributions from non-U.S. residents throughout the world,” Sukhia wrote. “[S]uch solicitations could be explainable if they were received solely by U.S. citizens abroad. They clearly are not.”

In addition to soliciting foreigners for donations, the Obama campaign has chosen not to employ industry-standard safeguards against collecting unlawful foreign donations via its social media and online process, the GAI report says...

I am not outraged about Romney taking contributions from Americans -- I am outraged that he solicits campaign contributions from Israelis in Israel!! He traveled to a foreign country to ask for campaign donations from Israeli citizens. I think that's pretty terrible and I think it should be and I hope IS against the law. He'll be bought and sold by Israel if he's president. They'll snap their fingers and he'll make war for them on anyone they like.

You are saying that Obama is also doing that, passively by not rejecting contributions by foreigners to a website his campaign runs. That sounds pretty awful to me too.

Both of them seem to me crooked as a dogleg taking all these foreign donations --- I wonder why some agency doesn't stop this criminal behavior in both cases.

Obama is taking $$$ from non-US citizens off the website. Not the same at all and I already gave the link to that story.

Here's one of Obama and ex pat's:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0612/77744.html

Obama taps overseas donor poolBy ANNA PALMER (http://www.politico.com/reporters/AnnaPalmer.html) and DARREN SAMUELSOHN (http://www.politico.com/reporters/DarrenSamuelsohn.html) | 6/23/12 7:00 AM EDT

The all-consuming hunt for donors has led President Barack Obama’s (http://www.politico.com/tag/barackobama) campaign to England. And France. And China.

Obama is tapping the network of American citizens living outside the 50 states more than any other presidential campaign has before, with more than a dozen bundlers who have pledged to raise as much as $4.5 million.

The president’s overseas power centers include London, where high-powered execs like Warner Bros. UK chief Josh Berger and Anthony Gardner of Palamon Capital Partners have promised to deliver as much as $500,000 each to the campaign, and Shanghai, where businessman and Technology for Obama co-chairman Robert Roche has committed to bringing in more than $500,000.

It’s all legal — the donors are American citizens who pay U.S. taxes — and the net income to the campaigns is paltry compared to the hundreds of millions of dollars raised stateside. Presidential campaigns have long taken in campaign donations from expats and people living in U.S. territories, but Obama’s campaign is focusing on those donations more than ever.

So is your problem only Americans living in Israel?

I happened to be watching one of the other CSPAN topics and when it ended, I flipped and saw Romney nearing the end of that speech. Sounds to me like he got some of this on the table and will dare Obama to refute him. He laid it out from what I am reading. I plan to watch it today. It will be repeated.

Is there some law or some other authority that states that when there is some war somewhere that this country must be involved? I got nervous when I heard that part where Romney was ragging about Syria. Tell you this much, the people doing the dying claim they want us to stay out.

If that is what they want, I would listen to them. It is probably due to Syrian propaganda efforts but I tend to doubt that they see us as much of a pal.

Obama does not have clean hands.

As is his norm, he demands credit for any wins by Arabs but wants no part of blame should bad things happen. He can't claim he is anti war now that he brags he is commander in chief. Notice the military does not like Obama.

If they are living in Israel, they aren't American. Not unless they ONLY have American passports. But these rich types Romney buttonholes for money have "dual citizenship" --- that means they are Israelis living in Israel who pretend they are also Americans and hold American passports as well as Israeli passports.

They are neither fish nor fowl, so they can jump whereever they need to flee to, I suppose.

But if Romney has to go to ISRAEL to separate them from their money, that tells me they are Israeli first and mean to own him body and soul so we'll go to war and they won't have to.

This is EXACTLY why we have laws against foreigners contributing campaign funds: so foreigners won't own our military. Whoops, too late, if Romney becomes prez, expect a war against Iran, Syria, anyone Israel orders Romney to make war on. He's already talking about getting into a war with Syria, a major enemy of Israel!!

This is so wrong.

Yet, you have failed to respond to both the fact that the MSM gloated on Obama doing the same with ex-pats in Europe, Asia, and China. You've failed to respond the the link that leaves non-Americans to donate to Obama in small amounts, many times, without the security codes to establish country. Mistake? Funny, it's only his donate page that leaves off security code, same as in 2008. Want to buy a mug or t-shirt? Need that code.

I did respond, though. Post #8.

You are saying both have dirty hands, that both are taking money from foreigners. Okay.

I am more disappointed in Romney, because I would like to have reasons to vote for him, but he just doesn't make the grade. I'm not considering voting for Obama, after all! I'm angry because the Republican candidate has sold himself to rich Israelis, presumably promising behind those closed doors in King David Hotel that he'll throw American military might whichever direction they want in exchange for making him president. This totally does not work for me.

The less we get militarily involved YET AGAIN in Muslim Sandland the happier I am. So Romney selling himself to rich Israelis in Jerusalem is not a pleasant sight to me.

You are like an Obama operative, repeating and repeating and calling this a 'response?' Those donating to Romney have American citizenship, just like those giving in Europe and other locales to Obama hold American citizenship.

Yet, no outrage on your part, indeed now a decision to vote for Obama, when his site has allowed foreigners from China, ME, South and Central America, Cuba to donate money via credit cards, without verification they are Americans. However his site for cups, t-shirts, and bumper stickers does require the code. As do all internet sales sites.

Well, I am not interested in what Obama does: I think he's a Black Muslim Socialist and take no interest in him. I assume he does bad things, and am willing to leave the outrage to you and others.
