YOU'VE BEEN ASKING US: HOW ARE WE RESISTING AGENDA 21? DO WE HAVE A MODEL FOR YOU?

HERE ARE SOME OF THE METHODS WE ARE USING:

In fighting Redevelopment:

Elected to Citizens' Oversight Committee
Flyered door to door with powerful info
Created and distributed newsletters
Put on informational meetings
Created petitions and submitted signatures
Issued press releases
Formed a Business and Property Owners Association
Started a non-profit in order collect funds to sue to stop Redevelopment project ($500,000 in donations, including pro-bono work by generous law firm)
Tried to get a referendum on ballot to stop ordinance
Radio/TV/print media interviews
Hired a law firm and sued City
Appealed lower court decision
Stopped the use of eminent domain for three years and effectively killed the project for years to come

In fighting UN Agenda 21/Sustainable Development:

Expanded our presence
Changed name and purpose of our non-profit to The Post Sustainability Institute (http://www.postsustainabilityinstitute.org/)
Started Neighborhood Coalition (http://www.santarosaneighborhoodcoalition.com/) to give residents real info and connect with allies
Distributed thousands of flyers door to door
Fought local projects that are Agenda 21-driven, and WON

Stopped the Mandatory Green Building Retrofit program that would have made it mandatory to have EVERY building in the entire city inspected from the attic to basement, inside, and forced owners to make energy upgrades of up to 1.5% of value before they could get a permit or sell the property. We put out 7,000 flyers--door to door--to inform the public, and this plan was aborted. How did we do it?

See www.SantaRosaNeighborhoodCoalition.com for details

Stopped the Humboldt Street Bike Boulevard that would have effectively closed a major collector street to cars--at a cost of $800,000. We fought this for 18 months and the city finally removed their 'pilot project': the temporary traffic circles that were causing near misses on a daily basis. Cost of 'pilot program'? $200,000. How did we do it? See our website www.SantaRosaNeighborhoodCoalition.com for details

Stopped the Business Improvement Area tax on local businesses to pay for 'Main Street USA' improvements, a corporate entity supposedly supporting business but making money for themselves only.

Demanded that our state Senator Pat Wiggins be removed from her post because of incompetence. She was apparently suffering from Alzheimers for 3 years and her aides were posting legislation in her name. We blew the whistle on this and caused an uproar. www.SantaRosaNeighborhoodAssociation.com

Created websites:
www.SantaRosaNeighborhoodCoalition.com (http://www.santarosaneighborhoodcoalition.com/), www.PostSustainabilityInstitute.com (http://www.postsustainabilityinstitute.com/)
Radio/TV/Print media interviews

Wrote BEHIND THE GREEN MASK: UN Agenda 21, touring the US and speaking

Created petitions and submitted signatures
Attended many City Council and other commission meetings, and spoke out
Elected to Neighborhood Association, but attacked and harassed. Through this we were able to find out who our enemies are and who funds and organizes them.
Exposed the manipulative neighborhood group to the residents
Letters to the Editor, letters and comments on media and related websites
Shared information and support with people from all over the world
Reached across artifical boundaries of political affiliation to find common goals
Reported corrupt politicians and government officials to FPPC
Exposed corruption
Resisted and exposed the Delphi Technique for manufacturing consensus
WE TALK ABOUT AGENDA 21/SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT/COMMUNITARIANISM EVERYWHERE WITH EVERYONE

BE INSPIRED. YOU CAN DO IT. DO WHAT YOU CAN. (http://www.democratsagainstunagenda21.com/what-can-i-do.html)
