They could play hardball but will they after just getting waxed? I don't see much more happening than putting off the fiscal cliff for six months or so until the new Congress is in.

If the spending needs to stop, why not just stop raising the debt ceiling? I called for that the last time. The House should submit a spending proposal that balances the budget. Let the senate reject it or The Obama to veto it, then let an automatic austerity budget take its place.
