And why is that? Seems like the job of a sniper in the military should be the same with any military in the world, no? Granted, the US has the most superior military AND snipers, but I don't think that matters in the video, as facts are facts.

Its just the way the show is presented/edited, almost gives a sense of weapon quasi-pornography, which just seems very American.

Like if i had to imagine a fake American TV program about a gun, the OP would be it, complete with countless pan shots of the weapon, slow-mo firing, graphical-gore representation and hi-budget dramatisation of the death it can bestow in multi-angle replays in a video game-esque style etc etc.

Maybe so, but what was described in that video is a real life situation, and I'm sure a little blood and mention of "pink mist" is WAY less gory than things appeared on scene. Hell, I've seen many movies more dramatic and more filled with blood than this. I'd say this one, with a little blood spray, was tamed down a bit in fact so as not to be so gory.

With that said, I think they should give better representations, maybe let us see actual footage and much more gore of these vermin scum getting blown to pieces and shredded up by ammunition! Maybe, just maybe, one or 2 of these scumbags will think twice about getting into the life of terror and being dumb enough to think their simplistic ways can match might with the US military.

you mean 'modern age technology'? Yeah, at least so far, the US leads at that, without question. 2 years from now, Britain may be in the lead. Unlikely, but possible. The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

Maybe I don't then. I thought the video was VERY realistic as to the operation and they kind of laid off the gore a bit for the audience. Like I said, had it been live footage, it would have been 10x worse. Maybe I'm jaded by seeing the greatest military in the world so often! :thumb:

Not really anything to do with technology, just the production/presentation style and such...

Like a few months ago i saw a US program about food, and the idea was that this guy went to a load of eateries, and had the most disguising food imaginable, like everything thing was excessive, so a Sub Sandwich would be three foot long, have 12 different kinds of meat on it, 3 different kinds of cheese (each one with 25 slices) etc etc, and the whole time the cameras panning over it, and the presenter is describing it as some sort of sex-goddess being made manifest before his eyes as the "chef" litterally threw slice after slice of cheese on this "sandwich"

Again. the food program was undeniably American, with the common theme to the OP program of fetishizing the subject.

I think Noir feels the video was OVER dramatized for sensationalism, sorta like a Stallone action flick. Truth is though, this was no dramatization, just an inside peek as to what the Marines deal with an how a sniper from a mile away can make such a difference. Without the various angles and blood, it wouldn't feel realistic and the viewer may not understand the strength of a .50 caliber weapon and the type of ammo used.

NOIR. Maybe we would understand you if you had any concept that differs American TV productions from Actual, Real Life, Wartime situations. Such as that shown in the video.

TV programs just never seem to have the same effect when it comes to defending your's, or someone else's life.

No REALITY TV program authorizes the use of FORCE to prevent the Killers from surviving. That's why we have a Military who isn't ACTING.

During the time around 2003, I saw some photos of an Iraqi that got hit in the head by the .50 Cal sniper rifle. I recall looking at the Barratt .50 cal when I bought the M-1 Garand. Anyway, I believe one could be had for about $3,500 at that gun shop brand new.

The Iraqi got hit just about dead center on his head and it was split in half as if hit by a huge ax.

I have to check to see if I have the photos. I was issued a M-14 in Germany and never fired it. It was brand new when I got it and still new the day I left. I fired the M-14 a lot at Fort Ord in advanced inf training. I really liked that rifle.

I was supposed to stay qualified with the M-14 in Germany but as a HQ/HQ company clerk, I could get out of anything. Also, I don't know where the range was in that part of Germany and did not want to be bothered with the hassle of going to the range. My unit was mostly administrative and I can't recall anything I prepared to get guys to the range. If there was to be using weapons on the range, I wouild think I wuuld have typed that up and posted it to the bulletin board. I did the guard duty and KP lists so I do recall those.

By the way, I was just looking at the Barrett Site (I had spelled it wrong) and the company is in TN. They have videos on their site of the snipers shooting.

Sure, and while it's not the Jews, you have no problem with a known terrorist organization lobbing rockets non-stop at these people you have no issue with. They sure as hell aren't targeting the Israeli military, or government, only civilian areas, and you already stated you lean towards supporting them. Fair or unfair, the Palestinians fought a war and were defeated. I can't think of a country that lost the war where the victors turned their land back over to them, not when the victors had the land earlier.

US Turns 100 Al-Qaida Into Pink Mist
--
Somalian Desert Runs Red With Blood Of ‘More Than 100’ Dead Al-Qaida Fighters After US Airstrikes

A U.S. military airstrike on an al-Shabab training camp in Somalia killed more than 100 militants, U.S. Africa Command announced Tuesday.

https://i.imgur.com/zNs9jAE.png

Al-Shabab is an affiliate of the Al-Qaida terrorist network and has been the frequent target of U.S. strikes in recent months.

https://i.imgur.com/d3euBHP.png

Al-Shabab has increasingly stepped up its operations with several high-profile terrorist attacks. The group is responsible for one of the largest suicide truck bombings in history, which killed more than 300 civilians in October.

President Donald Trump designated Somalia an “area of active hostilities” in March 2017, which allows U.S. military commanders greater latitude in deciding which targets to strike.

The group’s renewed pace of operations prompted the Trump administration to dramatically escalate U.S. military troops helping the country’s military. The troop escalation marks an increase of five-fold since President Donald Trump took office and reflects growing U.S. concern over the robust al-Qaida presence in Somalia.
