Tailfins what's the problem? It's Only asking 3rd parties to store something that you never asked to be stored so they can used it against you ...I mean BAD GUYS... in a court of law.
Why doesn't the post office just open and scan all the mail too and store the scans , just in case law enforcement needs it one day. Should have been done years ago probably. WHO KNOWS what went through the U.S. POSTAL SERVICE that could have SAVED LIVES!!!!!

Why not just have cameras right in ours home send audio and video to police directly that can be stored there. That'd be the safest thing to do for our safety.

Houston police chief wants cameras on homes, streetsHOUSTON (AP) — Houston's police chief on Wednesday proposed placing surveillance cameras in apartment complexes, downtown streets, shopping malls and even private homes to fight crime during a shortage of police officers.
"I know a lot of people are concerned about Big Brother, but my response to that is, if you are not doing anything wrong, why should you worry about it?" Chief Harold Hurtt told reporters Wednesday at a regular briefing.

Houston is facing a severe police shortage because of too many retirements and too few recruits, and the city has absorbed 150,000 hurricane evacuees who are filling apartment complexes in crime-ridden neighborhoods. The City Council is considering a public safety tax to pay for more officers. ...

Court OKs warrantless use of hidden surveillance cameras

In latest case to test how technological developments alter Americans' privacy, federal court sides with Justice Department on police use of concealed surveillance cameras on private property.

...Police are allowed in some circumstances to install hidden surveillance cameras on private property without obtaining a search warrant, a federal judge said yesterday.

CNET has learned that U.S. District Judge William Griesbach (http://www.wied.uscourts.gov/index.php?option=com_contxtd&task=view&contact_id=6&Itemid=85) ruled that it was reasonable for Drug Enforcement Administration agents to enter rural property without permission -- and without a warrant -- to install multiple "covert digital surveillance cameras" in hopes of uncovering evidencethat 30 to 40 marijuana plants were being grown.

This is the latest case to highlight how advances in technology are causing the legal system to rethink how Americans' privacy rights are protected by law. In January, the Supreme Court rejected (http://news.cnet.com/8301-31921_3-57364153-281/why-supreme-courts-gps-ruling-will-improve-your-privacy-rights/) warrantless GPS tracking after previously rejecting (http://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/99-8508) warrantless thermal imaging, but it has not yet ruled on warrantless cell phone tracking (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-57524109-38/justice-dept-to-defend-warrantless-cell-phone-tracking/) or warrantless use of surveillance cameras placed on private property without permission. ....

What really annoys me is that Obama was the candidate supported by ACLU types. I understand it's abusive to pressure an elected official to act against the ideology he ran on. However, the ACLU's agenda is ostensibly part of Obama's agenda. He need to step up on civil rights.
