DETROIT (AP) — The founder of Domino's Pizza is suing the federal government over mandatory contraception coverage in the new health care law.

Tom Monaghan, a devout Roman Catholic, says contraception is not health care and instead is a "gravely immoral" practice. He's a plaintiff in a lawsuit filed Friday in federal court, along with his Domino's Farms, which runs an office park near Ann Arbor.

Monaghan offers health insurance that excludes contraception and abortion for employees. The new law requires employers to offer insurance that includes contraception coverage or risk fines. Monaghan says the law violates his constitutional rights, and he's asking a judge to strike down the mandate.

The government says the contraception mandate benefits women and their role in society. There are similar lawsuits pending across the country.

Just a thought; didn't the ACA decision state that while Congress does have taxing power they do not have the power to mandate activity? Wouldn't that be expressly against the recent decision?

fj. Maybe a better question would be. If what you stated above was accurate. WHY does Obama, and Holder, with many members of the Democrat party in Congress...ignore, or pretend such recent decisions are INVALID, and therefore...not being obeyed?????

Because it hasn't been decided yet.

You're suspicions are that the intellectually curious will ask questions in order to provoke thought and determine how the news of the day interrelates to recent history? I kind of doubt that.

Maybe that's an activity that isn't an activity for purposes of policy consideration. :dunno: seriously though, i'd venture to guess that so long as they offer a tax as an alternative to the activity, its not really a mandate.
