Granted the guy should have a right to do whatever the heck he wants with his property, i think the man is an idiot.

So the libraries and thrift stores wont take the books, so what? then have a community give away. get rid of the books that way. Heck put them on Ebay you might be able to sell them there. there are tons of options. Why the heck would you burn them?

He did it as a publicity stunt to see items. If you read the article people were buying books out of the pile he was burning.

I do kind of understand his point, though. Bad enough when you can't sell books for money, but to get told you pretty much can't give them away is just nuts.
