So demands the NY Times on their op-ed page. Seems they are PO'd over all checks and balance stuff that slows down the implementation of Obama policies. Like Congress signing off on what he wants Maybe Obama can appease the NY Times by signing an Executive Order outlawing Congress.
AS the nation teeters at the edge of fiscal chaos, observers are reaching the conclusion that the American system of government is broken. But almost no one blames the culprit: our insistence on obedience to the Constitution, with all its archaic, idiosyncratic and downright evil provisions. Consider, for example, the assertion by the Senate minority leader last week that the House could not take up a plan by Senate Democrats to extend tax cuts on households making $250,000 or less because the Constitution requires that revenue measures originate in the lower chamber. Why should anyone care? Why should a lame-duck House, 27 members of which were defeated for re-election, have a stranglehold on our economy? Why does a grotesquely malapportioned Senate get to decide the nation’s fate?
Our obsession with the Constitution has saddled us with a dysfunctional political system, kept us from debating the merits of divisive issues and inflamed our public discourse. Instead of arguing about what is to be done, we argue about what James Madison might have wanted done 225 years ago.
As someone who has taught constitutional law for almost 40 years, I am ashamed it took me so long to see how bizarre all this is. Imagine that after careful study a government official — say, the president or one of the party leaders in Congress — reaches a considered judgment that a particular course of action is best for the country. Suddenly, someone bursts into the room with new information: a group of white propertied men who have been dead for two centuries, knew nothing of our present situation, acted illegally under existing law and thought it was fine to own slaves might have disagreed with this course of action. Is it even remotely rational that the official should change his or her mind because of this divination?
Constitutional disobedience may seem radical, but it is as old as the Republic. In fact, the Constitution itself was born of constitutional disobedience. When George Washington and the other framers went to Philadelphia in 1787, they were instructed to suggest amendments to the Articles of Confederation, which would have had to be ratified by the legislatures of all 13 states. Instead, in violation of their mandate, they abandoned the Articles, wrote a new Constitution and provided that it would take effect after ratification by only nine states, and by conventions in those states rather than the state legislatures. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/31/opinion/lets-give-up-on-the-constitution.html?pagewanted=all

Clrearly, the Constitution is working as intended. That idiots like the one that wrote this article are not allowed to pervert the Supreme Law of the land at a whim confirms once again how wise those who crafted it really were.

The real threat and great tragedy in that is the fact that the NYT feels so secure in printing such trash!
We can thank obama for that because if he held the opposite view they wouldn't have printed such anti-Constitutional bullshit! Its the fact they know he thinks the same way!! That is the great threat we face as a nation and he gets 4 more years to destroy..-Tyr

Obama, Democrats, and the New York Slimes NEED to get rid of the Constitution. And they are slowly convincing the UNEDUCATED who voted for Obama...."THAT'S WHAT WE SHOULD DO!"

All of the above know how to convince the MINDLESS, UNEDUCATED, DUMB, and generally SELFISH Americans that the Constitution is NO GOOD FOR THEM, and they are succeeding in great strides.

Think of the percentages of Americans...TODAY...who have no idea what the Constitution says, nor any of the Rights they have?

We cannot, and should not forget. Obama and the Democrats NEED, and WANT the Americans who vote for them to REMAIN uninformed, lacking knowledge, and dependent upon Government.
All of which explains why the Democrats DO NOT WANT their constituents to learn about THEM (Democrats) on the Internet, or with Schools that actually TEACH, rather than support Unions.
It's a never ending circle...and we all know who the JERKS are in the Center.

The New York Times is going to have to go out of print like Newsweek did, I read. This is just the death throes.

Nothing lasts forever, especially in such destructive change and ferment as is going on now in the entire publishing industry.

I hope the GD owner dies an agonizing and slow death for he is a sorry bastard that richly deserves it IMHO. -Tyr
