As the saying goes, "Weather is not climate change."
Actually no one is disputing warming in some areas; cooling in others. Drought in some places; floods in others.
The cause? That is the question.

Is Global Warming a Myth?
Another con artist taking the issue of manmade global warming, and trying once again to pretend it's simply about global warming instead?

For as long as I can remember back into the early 1950's, when I was in Elementary school, and before we had our first television, black and white with 3 channels. I recall the TODAY show, and the weather reports that told of either...OUR COLDEST, or OUR HOTTEST Winter, or Summer on record.
In fact. I remember lots of snow...living in the suburbs of Philadelphia...each year. As well as the terribly Hot Summer months...all before Air conditioning, and only room fans in a few windows.
The humidity was terrible, and it lasted for weeks...not days, or hours.
And I remember the Winter days, coming home after school. Playing in the back yard on Frozen, hard snow that never seemed to melt, week after week.
Funny thing was...back then. There were the same kinds of idiots trying to warn all of us about the Upcoming ICE AGE we needed to prepare for.
Sound familiar?

Considering it's been getting cooler the last few years, yes.
If the globe was still warming, they wouldn't have started calling it climate change.

Well, we must have his cold then.

It's not the truth for anyone. Because a lie can never be the truth, by definition. No matter how much you want to will it to be.
The truth is it doesn't exist. The tempature of the planet had gone up and down for millions of year. The idea that man is somehow accelarating the pace of the warming when 1) the planet isn't warming, 2) There is no baseline to measure from, and 3)it has gone up and down even in just the few years they've been measuring it, is completely absurd.
The only reason there is any research in global warming is because it's a political tool. Politicians hand out our money to scientists who will conduct studies to "prove" that there is some issue that the politicians can use to justify any ridiculous restriction on our rights.
Don't you think it's pretty convenient politically that this issue exists? I mean here we have a "crisis" that be used to justify changing or keeping laws/regulations the politicians want with absolutely no way for the public to measure if the laws/regulations have been effective. if the tempature goes up. It's global warming. If the tempature goes down. It's global warming. If we have a blizzard, it's evidence the planet is warming. Global warming is going to cause the next ice age. Remember that hurricane? Global warming. Remember last season when there werent as many hurricanes? Global warming. That earthquake last week was caused by global warming.
Don't you think it's a very odd coinidence that the things are are supposed to prevent global warming just happen to be the same socialist/marxist policies the people rejected when presented on their own merits? Let's redistribute the wealth because the planet is warming!
But hey, why look at evidence? I mean that's not what people with common sense do in your book.

I've seen no actually scientific data that says we're not experiencing normal cyclical weather patterns. I've seen lots of reasonable scientific method reports that it's not 'sudden' and not necessarily influenced by humans.

most on here will not dispute that there is some weather pattern changes, for a world that has been around for a billion years and we have been studying the weather accurately for less than 70 I would think that we don't know shit about what is normal vs what is abnormal.
Do you have ANY proof that the weather changes are anthropomorphic in cause??? Is there any studies that conclusively point to that cause?? If you bothered to look at historical weather patterns and temperature records that go for millions of years you will note that the temperature followed a basic sine wave pattern and we just reached a peak moment that will see a gradual drop.. Now will there be slight variances? YES!! Is that indicative of being man-made? NO!! We put more pollution in the air during the industrial revolution and we saw a DROP in temperature........
We just entered a VERY active solar cycle as well and last I checked the big yellow ball in the sky is what gives us our heat, of course I could be mistaken on that but if it is putting out MORE heat I would assume that would mean we would be ... wait for it.... *gasp* warmer!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kathianne. For some reason. I keep going back to my days in Science class. Somewhere around the sixth grade, when we learned about the Earth, and how the weather controls both the Northern, and Southern Hemisphere's....equally creating FALL and WINTER in One hemisphere, while creating SPRING and SUMMER in the other.
And, with those changes in each hemisphere....without fail...for thousands of years. The Earth experienced BITTERLY COLD WINTERS, and TERRIBLY HOT SUMMERS...in both hemisphere's ANNUALLY for all of the inhabitants of the Earth to equally share in, and eventually watch television WEATHER MEN, and WOMEN...tell us...WE ARE EXPERIENCING WEATHER.....DUH!
Does anyone here on DP actually remember the date, or year you first heard the words GLOBAL WARMING?
For most of us. We heard that expression, somewhere around the CARTER YEARS...when gasoline was being rationed, and only certain dates made you eligible to buy gasoline for your car.
Otherwise....NOBODY WAS MAKING MONEY....without the words GLOBAL WARMING.

And I think that would be the common sense conclusion looking at the evidence.
The one question no one in the pro global warming crowd, i mean climate change crowd, ever seems to answer is this: What tempature is the planet supposed to be?
If we don't know what it's supposed to be, how can we possibly know when it's going higher or lower at an accelarated rate?

Here is the thing. If you look at the actual global temperatures to be averaged, ... wait, you can't. It means nothing to begin with.
Well then, what about the hockey stick?
Well, look at it. Examine it. Why get alarmed anyway? The stick shows a slight temp increase over a longer period than a century.
I mean, say today it is 80 degrees and tomorrow they tell you to expect it to be 82 degrees.
I don't believe the sane people plan to rush out with their hair on fiire trying to cool off.
Do you?

1. humans aren't a big enough factor and

From a non scientist perspective listening to the scientific chatter it really seems that they really don't know enough and don't have the tools to really know much of anything. Not to mention the horrible corruption and politics in the research.
The systems is to big to predict. to big in size and in detail. and NO "compooter" has a program that can honestly mimic the earths natural system. It's infant science. still in the viking stages of exploration. IMO. Columbus and Magellan haven't arrived. and they were in wooden ships.

The thing about the word "will" is that it is always a lie. Like the Ice Age that was such a big deal coming at us for sure! for sure! in the '70s. I totally believed that, because I figured scientists must know what they were talking about.
Yeah, right. They don't know what will happen in the future any more than anyone else does. In a hundred years we may or may not know whether there was an Ice Age or Global Warming or whatever. In the meantime, enjoy the warm January. It may not last.
It usually doesn't.

If the globe was still warming, they wouldn't have started calling it climate change.
Well, the BOM just had to extend the temperature range on forecast charts to 54C (129.2F) and they have just started using the new colours!
Sorry to be talking about all this while some of you are freezing
2:26pm: Journalist Peter Hannam has written the story (http://www.smh.com.au/environment/weather/temperatures-off-the-charts-as-australia-turns-deep-purple-20130108-2ce33.html) behind the Bureau of Meteorology being forced to add new colours to its forecasting chart to extend its previous temperature range that had been capped at 50 degrees. (Temperatures are literally off the charts.)
The range now extends to 54 degrees – well above the all-time record temperature of 50.7 degrees reached on January 2, 1960 at Oodnadatta Airport in South Australia – and, perhaps worringly, the forecast outlook is starting to deploy the new colours, he writes.
While recent days have seen Australian temperature maps displaying maximums ranging from 40 degrees to 48 degrees - depicted in the colour scheme as burnt orange to black – both next Sunday and Monday are now showing regions likely to hit 50 degrees or more, coloured purple.
"The scale has just been increased today and I would anticipate it is because the forecast coming from the bureau's model is showing temperatures in excess of 50 degrees," David Jones, head of the bureau's climate monitoring and prediction unit, said.

I know much more about weather and climate than most only because of my science background plus the training I had to become a pilot. Pilots must be experts in weather.
So, not being an expert on global climate, I e mailed an actual expert. One peer reviewed, published and all that.
Dr. Lindzen at MIT was kind enough to not only explain this to me, but swamp me with science4 papers on the subject.
Some think he stands almost alone in the USA as a doubter. I assure you, he is not alone.
Now and then, I ask him if he has changed his mind yet.
So far he has not.
Some may have checked with Dr. Lindzen and got told the same thing when I inform boards it is easy to consult with him.

Actually, that may have more to do with solar build up. We are at a peak of solar energy, and that can have a lot to do with the worlds increased temp.
Its gknna be going back down to normal I. the near future, so we should be getting back to normal temps.
I dont think that climate change is total crap, but I do think there too much panic ascribed to the degree that we are culpable for versus how much is simply natural.

Well, yes, of course.. it's the middle of the Summer where you are... I just spent half the weekend chopping ice off of my roof so if that's global warming then I'm a monkey's uncle.
This is how things work.
1. The Left concocts a crisis (let's say, Crunchy Peanut Butter causes cancer)
2. The Left creates a phony set of data to support the crisis (3 of 20 million people who ate Crunchy Peanut Butter have cancer)
3. The Left creates a solution, usually in the form of higher taxes, expanded government, or both.
4. The Media goes along with the charade and drums it into the unsuspecting public until they believe it (after all, as Josef Goebbels once said a lie repeated often enough is accepted as the truth)
5. Congress passes legislation that addresses the problem, usually in the form of higher taxes, expanded government, or both (they start taxing Crunchy Peanut Butter, and create a Bureau of Peanut Butter Oversight)
6. The crisis miraculously abates, so the public assume the problem has been solved. (the price of peanut butter goes up, the middle class takes it on the chin in the form of higher prices at the grocery store, but they justify it because they believe that Crunchy Peanut Butter causes cancer)
7. The Left goes to step 1 with another crisis, which they will blame on the Republicans (e.g. the color green causes autism, so we must tax anything that is green)
The Left needs a crisis or a cause to rally around. It is this constant state of crisis that is contributing to the deteriorating mental state of this country.
Personally, I'd like to have legislation passed that will require all people on the Left to have their mouths firmly duct taped for a year and monitor the results. I think that the Duct Tape Association of America would back me on this.

Good point, that the Left needs a crisis, and Michael Crichton wrote a novel about that that --- that "global warming" is really all about fundraising for the wealthy heads of "charities." A fake crisis generated purely for their personal wealth development, since these charities do soak up most of what they raise themselves.
I have two concerns about this fake crisis, one being how can you have a crisis before it has happened? I mean, nothing has happened yet! The planet hasn't warmed. How can they pretend to know it is GOING to?They don't even know what the weather will be Friday. It's all nonsense.
The other is speculation I've had for years that this is all really a way to talk about population explosion without actually mentioning that it's black and brown and yellow races that are doing all the overpopulation. Whites, after all, are depopulating. Blaming other races for a problem is verboten and non-PC, of course, so they had to find some other way to beat America with a stick and they chose "global warming," which is a fake, exactly like the fake Ice Age Coming in the '70s.
Now, the population explosion HAS already happened. That hockey stick can be drawn on a graph with the points in the past, not the unlikely future, so we know it happened. There are some problems from it already -- the Mideast food riots they call the "Arab Spring" and starvation as usual in Ethiopia and so on, giant plastic wastes circulating in the Pacific, the Brown Haze all over the Asian countries from air pollution, species going extinct constantly now, oceans getting overfished and so on. However, huge dire Malthusian effects have not yet happened, like giant plagues or millions dying of starvation. Personally, I believe Malthus will get us if we don't watch out, but I am not calling it a crisis --------------
Because it hasn't happened yet!
You can't call something a crisis, not even "Global Warming," if it hasn't actually happened and may never happen.

Gee, another moron who can't understand the difference between local weather, and global weather. By your logic, my 35 degree Fahrenheit weather here disproves global warming.

It can't be truth until after it happens.
Hasn't happened yet.
I called that 70's coming ice age prediction bunk and I call this newest scam pure bunk as well . Nothing man-made about it. The sun is the culprit and Mar's polar ice caps melting prove it. No earth Suv's there. When one sees how politics uses and pushes this they should start to understand how it got so big ,so fast and why so many jumped on board. Follow the money and follow the power it creates, political power to write laws to institute drastic changes etc.--Tyr

Mars is the ant in the pie huh.
LOL
I used to point that out and the left is living in denial.
Also they don't want to discuss a large crane that was used in the Antarctic to erect those very large electric towers to get above the ice problems.
Trouble is, the crane has been so covered with ice that all you now see is the boom of the crane. And the towers have ice over half way up the high towers.
Something is sure getting changed and it is in Antarctic.
Here, let me show you. Poke around the link since it contains a treasure trove to help you.

Why do you support liberalism?? It's incompatible with much of what Islam teaches. Is it that you know how destructive it is and support destruction of nations by its implementation? I don't disfavor Islam any more than any other non-Christian religion, but this support of liberalism is discomforting.

Does anyone think I should cry for jafar as he complains about the temperature being 109 F?
Or, should I just tell him. His crying is worthless as I remember back in June, July, and August of 2012, here on the East Coast of the United States...where much of the nation was feeling THREE DIGIT temperatures from coast to coast?
By the way. JUST LIKE THE THREE DIGIT TEMPS we had the year before, and the year before that????
And jafar is crying about how hot it is in OZ?????
Maybe a little 4261 with more TEARS will help COOL IT DOWN??????

We should all cry for his stupidity at not understanding the difference between local and global weather.

Marcus. If you don't mind? No disrespect intended. But I'd rather laugh at his endless stupidity, than waste a second crying for it.

This from Yahoo
NOAA declares that 2012 was hottest year on record in the CONUS
Not since 1998 has it been so hot.
And yadda and yadda
We withstood it.
We managed to find a way to live with it.
Don't worry. Be happy.

I'm like Sheldon on Big bang Theory. I cry because I am sad that other people are stupid.

Kinda odd isn't it? That's one of those cases where you have to decide whether laughing is more appropriate than crying.
I have never seen that program. But if it is anything like real life. Showing how downright STUPID people can be. It sounds rather FACTUAL.
