As some of you know, last July my wife and I found it necessary to put down one of our children, Gordon (Gordon Setter mix). We had him for fifteen years and he was my son (when you have three daughters, you take what you can get...). With his departure we were left with just his "sister," Petrie. She was sad. Well, here we are six months later and we have a new addition to the family, Jake.

Jake comes to us courtesy of my mom, a breeder of Papillons (she also shows them). Jake's father is a grand champion, though not at the national level. Well, Mom decided she couldn't have two males in the house, and, because Jake is her favorite of all the dogs she has bred, she didn't want to sell him to just anyone...

Now jake lives in South Carolina with me...

And I could watch him jump off stuff all day long...

In two weeks this little beast has wormed his way into my heart...

What a cute little bugger!!

Not sure if others will be aware that the large picture is a video. Click on the larger picture to have it open and play in a new window!

My best friend as a child , as a teenager was my dog, Buster. He chased the bus every morning wanting to go to school with me. He went with me on every hunting adventure I had from time I was 6 years old until he died when I was 14 years old, the year before my dad died.. .
They worm their way into your heart and you are never the same afterwords. You are all the better for it but man does it hurt when they pass on. Buster passed on 45 years ago and it still hurts today. My first dog and the first dog that I ever loved like a brother!
Good luck with your new blessing!!--Tyr

Thanks Tyr.

All my dogs have been family, never pets. Jake will be the same, he has already found his spot in our bed... on the pillow above my head. Much to our other dog's dismay...

Jim, thanks for pointing out the second attachment was a video rather than a crappy picture of the boy's nether region...
