Not the first. Indeed, there may be reason to give some thought to a forum of 'guns saving lives...'

BRYAN COUNTY, Oklahoma - A 12-year-old girl took matters into her own hands during a home invasion in southeast Oklahoma.

It happened on Wednesday when the girl was home alone. She told police a stranger rang the doorbell, then went around to the back door and kicked it in. She called her mom, Debra St. Clair, who told her to get the family gun, hide in a closet and call 911.

That was when St. Clair dropped what she was doing and raced home.

"I drove home at a really fast pace to try to get to her, and when I got here the police were already here. And they had the suspect," she said.

During that time, the intruder made his way through the house. St. Clair's daughter told deputies the man came into the room where she was hiding and began to open up the closet door. That was when the 12 year old had to make a life-saving decision.

"And what we understand right now, he was turning the doorknob when she fired through the door," said the Bryan County Undersheriff Ken Golden.

The bullet hit the intruder, who deputies identified as 32-year-old Stacey Jones. He took off but did not get far before officers took him down.

"He was sitting down, the policemen had him apprehended at the end of the block. All I saw was some blood coming down his back. I'm not exactly sure where his injury was, but I saw some blood there," explained St. Clair.

Jones was taken to a Texas hospital by helicopter after the incident. An investigator on the case said Jones was released from the hospital Thursday and extradited to the Bryan County Jail.

The 12-year-old girl was not injured during the ordeal.

... and the next kid who grabs his parent's unlocked gun proceeds to gun down 30 or so of his classmates at the local school. Logic dictates that you keep your guns locked up at all times.

BULLSHIT! Logic dictates that bad guys will be bad guys and breaking a law against murder or rape is no different to them than breaking the laws against burglary. Intentionally making an environment where bad guys can act without fear at all of their victims is the epitome of illogic.

I'd give the kid a Medal... Key to the City...A Parade...A Pony... Whatever she Wanted!!

This Child is a hero... she defended her home and herself...

Why wont OBAMA bring this girl to the White House??

simple.... she kills every Argument he makes about guns....

More often then not Guns are able to SAVE LIVES in the hands of those properly trained in their use....

Liberals would rather we be unarmed sheep under the protection of some federal agency that will show up too late to protect us and let us be killed...

I'll defend myself thank you... and put the Criminal on a slab....

Socialists are America's enemies regardless of their race , religion or national citizenship therefore Jafar being a good muslim must side with them.
Abiding by the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" philosophy. And the alliance of leftists with Islam and its quest to destroy us..-Tyr

Almost a million people per year defend themselves from criminals.....I wonder how many more would have been able to defend themselves if their guns had not been locked up. I have guns that are locked away and I have guns that are available for self-defense that are not locked up. There are approximately 70-80 million guns owned in America .... and yet the media does not report that almost 80 million guns are not being used in crimes.

Based on survey data from a 2000 study published in the Journal of Quantitative Criminology,[17] U.S. civilians use guns to defend themselves and others from crime at least 989,883 times per year.

Sadly, logic has become confused with emotional appeal. Ethos, pathos, logos-- look them up-- there's a difference. Words mean stuff, and logically speaking, appealing to emotion is a fallacy.
To demonstrate my point, how many home invasion robberies have occurred over the last 30 years? thousands, it not tens of thousands. How many school shootings? A hundred, maybe. Which one receives broader attention? Logic would dictate the greater number would be the greater threat; emotion-wise, not necessarily, and in the case here, we see the opposite correlation. Hence the fallacy.
