Jim gives all veterans an insignia as soon as he learns they are vets. Post the name, he'll take care of them.

Tyr. That reminded me of a video a young Marine got from home, during Operation Desert Storm in 1990.
Almost everybody in the military. Navy, Marines, Air Force, Army and Coast Guard saw the CNN report about the WIFE of that young Marine...who sent her husband, in uniform, in the sands of Saudi Arabia...a video of her...and her boyfriend in BED.

Cruel people. Hate filled People. Stupid, Ignorant People are EVERYWHERE!

Just as bad is --Stolen Valor.. People that claim military service or heroic military deeds that are just damn lies..
I put up a thread about in many months back. I'll see if I can find it for reference. Our honorable military service members deserve better than having their service tarnished by the lies of others..

Any thoughts about initiating a process to verify a forum member's military / veteran's status? I'm thinking we limit the military-affiliation badges to those members who provide a modicum of proof of their service. Perhaps we issue a special 'verified' tag to those who want to remove-all-question, and leave it as-is for those who simply wish to claim service? In today's world, fakes come out of the woodwork too often. Maybe a 'sanitized' DD214 sent to Jim or another Admin for review? Folks can remove SSNs, and other stuff (next of kin info/addresses), etc. I dunno - what do you think?

Tyr. Only proof can be a DD-214. If anyone has a need to lie about their service in the military. There are OTHER methods to find out exactly WHO is being dishonest..as in STOLEN VALOR.

I won't share the two Guaranteed methods in public. But it is very easy to clear up. Even from a dumb, old man like me.

The same way that every other military member here has been verified - by telling me that they were in the military. I am not in the verification business and I don't want people trusting me with DD-214 forms or whatever they are called. It's not my place to question the service and demand proof. I would prefer this conversation continue in the cage if this is what I think it is, which is the questioning of another members military service. It doesn't need to take place in this thread.

There are of course varying degrees of torture , and while I am okay with say waterboarding, or sleep deprivation, or starvation; I would not be okay with the kind of sickness those people are perpetrating on their victims, and I would like to see evidence that the US uses such methods.

I doubt you'll find more than 1-2 people who agree with you on that statement, only those that have a shared enemy. The rest of the community is not involved in the feuds, and not a single on of them is complaining. The truth is, so long as it's not fighting, you guys can post what you please. You know this, I know this, and everyone knows and sees this. You're just complaining because you had a lot of posts moved and were removed from 3 threads due to refusing to let this go and preferring to fight. Don't blame me. My take is verification should be mandatory everywhere not just here. I just posted a thread on -Stolen Valor this morning. Rather than resurrect the old thread I decided to go with new one with a fresh perspective.
It has nothing to do with what is or isn't verified at this site.
