France's Socialist government was involved in a vast damage limitation exercise today after a senior minister admitted that the country was ‘totally bankrupt.’
Colleagues of Michel Sapin, secretary of state for employment, insisted that he was merely highlighting the faults of the last conservative administration, after the minister said the government's tax-and-spend policies are just not working.
Finance minister Pierre Moscovici said: ‘What he meant was that the fiscal situation was worrying’, and added that the last government, led by Nicolas Sarkozy, had accumulated £513billion of debt.

If France suffers a total financial collapse will it trigger a worldwide domino effect? After all many nations are in dire financial straits already, just one small step from bankruptcy themselves!
Just imagine if that happen while we have this current dictator in charge!!!

And their financial bankruptcy is nothing compared to their philosophical and moral bankruptcy.

Even worse, this country isn't far behind.

Thanks, Tyr.

Well, I can't see the Euro surviving it. France was the next biggest contributor to the so-called 'Eurozone' after Germany. It's what you get when you tie yourself in to a currency that any one of a couple of DOZEN nations can drag down (.. as has Greece, Spain, etc ..).

Naturally, it doesn't exactly help when a Leftie applies Leftieism to an economy. A mixture of spending other peoples' money, of taxing the rich and so killing off enterprise, even taken to the point where foreign Companies get out of the country choosing to tax the hell out of them.

A recipe for disaster, as any well-balanced observer would perceive. For Lefties, no degree of myopia and dogmatism is ever too much to care about fiscal realities.

Anyway, I've taken some time out tonight to check out domestic BBC reports. Guess what ? NOT A SINGLE WORD ABOUT THIS WAS BROADCAST. But then, what Leftie outfit would want to be any more revealing about their creed's stupidity than absolutely, unavoidably, necessary ?

Seems to me to be a bomb waiting to go off! Of course the lefties want to ignore it and not admit their part in causing it. I had no knowledge that it was not known in Britain but then again the government there is in the crapper pretty deep and sold out to the leftists/muslims.
Yet again Europe may cost us dearly..-Tyr

Well, it depends on how limited you want to be in your choice of news provider. Those sticking just to BBC output are guaranteed to be wedded to their own biases. I saw, though, that you chose the Daily Mail for your article .. a fine, upstanding, quality British CONSERVATIVE newspaper, that .. so naturally, you'll get more of the real news from it.

The BBC will report Leftie-unfriendly news when they're forced to, not before.

Europe is a monumental global millstone waiting to happen. Their imploding fiscal incompetencies will ultimately be damaging clear across the globe.

One does stand in awe that the 'smartest president evah' is now trying to force the US into a European style economy.

Meanwhile, Australia which also has socialist systems in place like free health care is still enjoying a budget surplus amidst global financial woes. There are ways of doing things right.

Really, how many hundreds of billions does Australia give in foreign aid each year. How many hundreds of billions does it spend maintaining a military to police the world?
How much does it give in charitable aid??

Yes, Not doing major things saves money and helps maintain a better financial condition.

You got any other point to make??--Tyr

... besides which, Tyr, Australia has only a third of the population of, say, the UK .. and it takes stronger stances on immigration control .. and has considerably natural resources to call upon, this across a landmass which is far bigger .. they certainly aren't stuck with directives and fiscal responsibilities demanded of them by a major global combined power consisting of a couple of DOZEN countries !!!

So comparisons just don't stack up.

Compare the Aussie 22 million population against THREE HUNDRED million people, as I believe is true of the U.S ?

Australia does it's part in foreign aid http://www.ausaid.gov.au/Pages/home.aspx

As for policing the world, it's not in our nature to belligerently step up and declare ourselves the world's police. It's not our fault that the US <s>spends</s> wastes hundreds of billions on war.

Sure I pay a large amount in tax. I also pay over $3k a year in the Medicare levy. I don't really mind paying the medicare levy if it means someone who is not well off can get medical care for free.

"Those poor folks? They don't get it for free, either." Now truth to tell, do you have a supplemental to government policy?

Not your fault but you enjoy the benefit while you ignore the expenditure and cost in lives. Gratitude is zero with muslims because their religion teaches them to only give gratitude to Allah. That is why our politicians are so easily fooled and do such appeasing them! They are ignorant of that fact! And you delight in that ignorance. Yes, I know you have me on ignore . WHICH IS HYPOCRISY BEING THAT ANOTHER MEMBER THAT INSULTS YOU DIRECTLY, MORE OFTEN AND MUCH HARSHER YOU DO NOT IGNORE!
That indicates to me and any rational person that its my presentation of the -TRUTH-- THAT YOU FIND SO OFFENSIVE AND NOT ANY INSULTS I MAY HAVE ISSUED!-Tyr

Denial is the easiest path and it requires no justification. Jafar takes that path often.. Just like he ignores my posting the truth backed by linked sources. -Tyr

I know Australia welcomed in too many muslims in the name of multiculturalism and diversity and they too will soon see that they have invited in their own destruction..-Tyr
