Crank up The Smiths (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRi8MYrtKYk), Chicago. We're miserable now.

Thanks to its brutal winters, tough commutes and high foreclosure rates, Chicago was ranked the United States' fourth most miserable city in Forbes' annual list (http://www.forbes.com/sites/kurtbadenhausen/2013/02/21/detroit-tops-2013-list-of-americas-most-miserable-cities/).

Though a panel of experts acknowledged the city's world-class culture, top-ranked universities and restaurants, they said it's tough to live here without a lot of money and noted thousands are proving they don't want to.

"Chicago residents must endure long commutes (31 minutes on average), plummeting home prices (37% the past five years), brutal winters and high foreclosure rates (3.3% of homes in 2012 says RealtyTrac)," according to the Forbes' list 2013 of America's Most Miserable Cities.

"Many residents are giving up on the Windy City with a net migration out of the city of 107,000 people the past five years, according to Moody’s Analytics."

Seriously, only the ignorant would find this gleeful news. Chicago has some of the best museums, orchestra, and shopping in the world. Restaurants are to die for. How long will any of those continue with the lack of leadership now in the city and Springfield? Not long. Will they relocate? To some degree, but really no replacement for Michigan Ave and the lakefront.

Some of the cultural outlets:

1. Museum of Science and Industry
2. Field Museum
3. Adler Planetarium
4. Shedd Aquarium
5. Art Institute of Chicago
6. Oriental Institute of Chicago
7. Museum of Contemporary Art
8. Sports teams and stadiums
9. Chicago theaters, including "Second City"
10. House of Blues
11. Chicago Symphony Orchestra
