Apparantly, anyone in the United States, legal or illegal, natural or naturalized, would have to get permission from Homeland Security to get a job, and if the DHS should have a glitch and wrongly deny you permission to work (like a government agency EVER messed ANYTHING up), there's no mechanism to even challenge the decision, much less claim lost wages.
