I wonder if the main news stations plan to keep it on TV all the time when the Mormons pick a new church president?

I have spent 20 minutes watching ABC fawn all over the pope that is not known to us as of this moment.

if you're so uninterested, why waste the 20 minutes? Surely you could have spent that 20 minutes chasing some black people and calling them names, right?

Don't complain. When the Southern Baptists choose a new President, the reporting fits the template of: "Baptists choose another regressive neanderthal as President."

tailfins. Congratulations for being honest, and announcing your plans to run for President, regressive as it may be for you.

By the way. Which do you prefer? Being called a BIGOT, or RACIST?

VATICAN CITY (AP) -- Argentine Jorge Bergoglio has been elected pope, the first ever from the Americas and the first from outside Europe in more than a millennium. He chose the name Pope Francis.

After announcing `'Habemus Papum" - `'We have a pope!" - a cardinal standing on the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica on Wednesday revealed the identity of the new pontiff, using his Latin name. Bergoglio had reportedly finished second in the 2005 conclave that produced Benedict XVI - who last month became the first pope to resign in 600 years.

The 76-year-old archbishop of Buenos Aires has spent nearly his entire career at home in Argentina, overseeing churches and shoe-leather priests.

MALE CHAUVINIST PIG.

My first agenda item would be to make all Southern Baptist Churches KJV-only. Then they can be REAL Baptists once more.

Yep, Gabby called this. I wish him well, troubling times for the Church.

BTW, I'll not be responding to the racists that are mostly also thumpers here. I may read, until I feel it serves no purpose.

While I've always known that this site was mostly extreme 'Christians,' it's only recently I realized there are also racists and yes, fascists.

There was a time I believed that speaking to the better nature of most would perhaps turn hearts, I know now defeat. I accept that.

Marcus. Robert still has no idea...Every Human Being has an ASS.

But being a Racist like that, is for special people who...had to be taught, and learned to be racists. So it appears Robert has been getting "A's" in that department.

He blames his racism on 'experience,' never taking into the account of other's experiences. Be they blue, black, white, brown...

He just loves his own.

Should be entertaining to see how the conspiracy theorists try to shoe horn this guy into "Peter the Roman" to satisfy St. Malachy's Prophecy of the Popes.

Aside from that, good luck to Pope Francis. He has his work cut out for him in restoring the reputation of the Church.

No, but what you are saying is that if you had the same experience, you would be a racist. Think about it.

I can't claim to be a racist but offer this lesson in logic.

Suppose the person wanted to be a racist.

Can you think of any law on the books that forbids that?

Think that over. Things that are bad are against the law.

Are you with me?

Being none of it is against the law, all it means is you and Abouttime are perpetual whiners.

End of lesson.

I'm not up on what negative things i'm suppose to think a Hispanic man does. you "know how they are".
So i don't have any good sarcastic comment to add here.
All i can think of is a Pope with an who likes rice and beans but, I mean, i love rice and beans too, and just about all Hispanic tex mex Cuban, Porto Rican etc foods.
I'm guessing that the Pope has a chef at the vatican, man I'd looove to have diner with a Pope a few times a week.
Chef made South American AND Italian foods! MAN that's good eatin! He might become the fattest Pope in history.

Argentina isn't considered an Hispanic country?

Argentine cuisine may be described as a cultural blending of Mediterranean (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mediterranean_cuisine) influences (such as those created by Italian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_Argentine) and Spanish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Argentine) populations) within the wide scope of livestock and agricultural products that are abundant in the country.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_cuisine#cite_note-gastronomy-1) Argentine annual consumption of beef (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beef) has averaged 100 kg (220 lbs) per capita,[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_cuisine#cite_note-2) approaching 180 kg (396 lbs) per capita during the 19th century; consumption averaged 67.7 kg (149 lbs) in 2007.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_cuisine#cite_note-3) Beyond asado (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asado) (the Argentine barbecue (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbecue)), no other dish more genuinely matches the national identity. Nevertheless, the country's vast area, and its cultural diversity, have led to a local cuisine of various dishes.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_cuisine#cite_note-gastronomy-1)[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_cuisine#cite_note-4)
Argentinian people (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentinian_people) have a reputation for their love of eating.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_cuisine#cite_note-gastronomy-1) Social gatherings are commonly centered around sharing a meal. Invitations to have dinner at home is generally viewed as a symbol of friendship, warmth, and integration. Sunday family dinner is considered the most significant meal of the week, whose highlights often include asado or pasta (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pasta).[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_cuisine#cite_note-gastronomy-1)
Another feature of Argentine cuisine is the preparation of homemade food such as french fries (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_fries), patties (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patty), and pasta to celebrate a special occasion, to meet friends, or to honor someone. The tradition of locally preparing food is passed down from generation to generation, and homemade food is also seen as a way to show affection.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_cuisine#cite_note-gastronomy-1)

What reason is there to disrespect the Catholic Church? If we disrespect everyone who makes mistakes, then no respect would exist in the world.

If the President of the Church dies, the First Presidency is disolved and the President of the Quorum of the Twelve will reorganize the First Presidency as the new President of the Church.

No guessing involved.
