“I knew about Joe Weider long before I met him,” Schwarzenegger said in a statement posted on his Web site (http://www.schwarzenegger.com/announcements/post/statement-on-the-passing-of-joe-weider).
“He was the godfather of fitness who told all of us to ‘Be Somebody with a Body.’ He taught us that through hard work and training we could all be champions.”

My oldest brother was big into body building. I remember this guy was a hero of his along with the old body builders of the 60's.. guys like Gordon Scott, Steve Reeves, etc..
Dude made 93, I'd gladly sign up for that right now.. -Tyr

It's a shame anyone should die so young.

I sincerely mean that.

“He was the godfather of fitness..."

The godfather of body building, perhaps, but Jack Lalanne was the godfather of fitness...

RIP Weider...

RIP Weider...

Jack Lalanne was just about as fit as a human can get. Some pics of him early in his career will convince anybody of that when they see those pics and the records he set for decades.
Cat was awesome all his life...

Rest in Peace Joe...

Now you and Charles Atlas can argue who was better in the big weight room in the sky!
