WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is sending Congress a $3.8 trillion spending blueprint that seeks to achieve an elusive "grand bargain" to tame runaway deficits by raising taxes further on the wealthy and trimming popular benefit programs such as Social Security.

The president's proposal being unveiled Wednesday includes an additional $1.8 trillion in deficit reduction over the next decade, bringing total deficit savings to $4.3 trillion, based on the administration's calculations.

It projects that the deficit for the 2014 budget year, which begins Oct. 1, would fall to $744 billion. That would be the lowest gap between spending and revenue since 2008.

But instead of moving Congress nearer a grand bargain, Obama's proposals so far have managed to anger both Republicans, who are upset by higher taxes, and Democrats upset with cuts to Social Security benefits.

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., rejected the administration's argument that the refusal of Republicans to consider further tax increases represented inflexibility.

jimnyc. NOTHING FROM NOTHING EQUALS NOTHING. And that is about all Obama has presented here.
No doubt. The Uneducated, Illiterate, Easily-led who voted for him, and worship the mud he walks on will be in AWE of Obama's phoniness.

None of this changes the real facts. Obama is, and always will be a Liar with fellow Liars who can't tell the difference.

I watched Sen. Sessions state that the dreaded Paul Ryan's budget, increasing spending 3 percent per year, balances the budget in 10 years.

Obama fought that to fight for this budget, increasing spending 5 percent each year.

Yup, Obama and CBS cares.

And Democrats forced 5 percent spending onto Bush then raised hell he raised spending 5 percent per year. The spending by Obama is based on a very much higher base so in actual dollars, Obama has super massive spending which no doubt Democrats will defend.

As well as Pres Reagan and Bush 41

Seems to me Dems owe us about $6 in REAL CUTS for every dollar in those tax increases

More proof R's never learn when they take future promises of cuts in exchange for immediate tax increases

There is really NO OTHER way to say what is happening today in America.

This is probably the ONLY way to be honest....4844. Thanks to every American who blindly
voted for Obama, and all Democrats since 2008.
Anyone who can honestly prove differently....here is your chance to prove your foolishness.
