...but dislikes the vile behavior witnessed upon her death even more. Bravo, Ms. Malone.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/margaret-thatcher-dead-vile-outpouring-1829807

I didn’t much like my country last week because I saw a side to it that was ugly and coarse and cruel.

Maggie Thatcher (http://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/margaret%20thatcher%20funeral) wasn’t even cold before the tsunami of hatred crashed through the plaudits like a poison riptide. “The Witch is dead”, “Rot in Hell”, “Rejoice, Thatcher is dead” said the vile banners, even though many of those brandishing them weren’t even alive when Thatcher was in power.

And how ironic that the people screaming she’d wrecked the country and wrecked their lives still had enough money to buy champagne to drink to her death, to shout that they hoped it was a painful and degrading one.

Still, they followed the mob, sheep-like, shouting that someone had told them she was a bitch... and so they were glad she was dead.
I never voted for Thatcher and there’s nothing wrong with detesting her policies (some people have every right to) but don’t dance on her face, don’t drink to her death. It’s puerile and stupid and says more about the people doing it than the woman they’re vilifying.

What kind of country are we when people rejoice that an old lady had a stroke and died?

Unlike a lot of those baby-faced protesters – and the professional rabble-rousers (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/margaret-thatcher-protests-police-alert-1828597) egging them on – I was born into one of the mining communities that Thatcher’s policies decimated. I lived among the men whose livelihoods she stole and worked in communities that had the lifeblood sucked out of them when the pits and the shipyards shut.

And while for many of those men unemployment was a lifelong shame that ate away at their souls, I never heard any of them talk about Maggie Thatcher the way some of those louts did last week. Yes, some of them hated her policies, but they never allowed her to rob them of their dignity, their inherent decency. A lot of those men belonged to the old school who “didn’t speak ill of the dead”. And had they been alive today they’d have been appalled at the vitriol heaped on a frail old woman who hasn’t been politically active for two decades and who lost her mind years ago.

Thatcher’s biggest crime back then wasn’t shutting down dying industries (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/mark-austin-margaret-thatcher-scars-1828282) (and the mines WERE dying). It was not thinking through what the people she threw out of work would do afterwards and then doing nothing to help them rebuild their lives. That WAS a crime.
screamingAs for those pits people talk of so romantically, show me one mother who’d want her son to work a mile underground in that dankness, one wife who’d want her husband bent double for eight hours at a stretch in 3ft coal seams while his lungs were eaten by coal dust.
Have those people screaming about pit closures ever watched a man die of black lung (pneumoconiosis)? Because I have and it isn’t pretty. Don’t they know Scargill is every bit as responsible for the death of the pits as *Thatcher because of the strikes he called without balloting his men... men who hated him a damn sight more than they hated Thatcher.
My family lived through those strikes where you never knew from one day to the next whether you’d have light or heating or coal. My dad, a lifelong Labour voter, even voted for Thatcher in 1979 because as he said: “She’s a bloody leader, Carole, and we need a leader to get us out of this mess.”

How many of you have watched Mrs Thatcher's funeral yet ? Naturally, as I'm in the UK's own timezone, I've watched it 'real time' .. BBC1's own coverage of it, a 3 hour programme, from 9:15AM through to 12:15PM.

I've also watched their news coverage afterwards.

Full marks to the BBC for good, tasteful coverage both of the funeral and of commentary just before, and indeed, just after it ... minutes afterwards, that's to say. No doubt when Americans catch up with it in their own coverage, it'll be BBC output (if not their own commentary ?) you'll be watching.

.. 'so far so good' ..

However, I'm continuing to watch the domestic output of the BBC News channel - and, the anti-Thatcher barbs are beginning to creep in. Two notable ones so far. The first was commentary from Easington Colliery, one of a number of coal mines Mrs Thatcher had to preside over the closure of. Now, as the previous poster pointed out, certain industries were dying here .. coal production certainly, as extraction of coal from increasingly exhausted pits was becoming uneconomic. Well ... the commentator sent to Easington has just covered 'sentiment from the locals' there .. and, surprise surprise, he found people to talk to and comment on whose attitude towards Mrs Thatcher was to bitterly blame her for ruining the area, 'blighting peoples' lives', for 'not caring about the working classes'.

Fast-forward about 20 minutes. A further report, this 'happening' to involve an interview with a writer (Bea Campbell, I think) who just 'happened' to have anti-Thatcher views, and made a point of referring to them, led into it by the BBC interviewer, at length. Cheekily, I thought, Ms Campbell commented on the 'ugliness' of Mrs Thatcher's coffin being on a gun carriage, as it was being carried to St Pauls Cathedral ... partly the appearance of the carriage, partly the symbolism involved.

But of course, Ms Campbell 'conveniently ignored:

1. That Mrs Thatcher's OWN WISHES were being followed. Most, if not all, of the funeral arrangements had been planned for BY HER ...

2. It was a military funeral, because Mrs Thatcher had asked for it to be so, also a mark of respect from our military towards her, not forgetting the Falklands component to it ... and ...

3. This in any case copied the arrangement applied to Sir Winston Churchill's own State funeral, back in 1965 !!

By the way ... if anybody notices a measure of restlessness from the horses pulling the gun carriage as it nears the Cathedral (around Ludgate Circus, by the looks of it ..) .. the BBC reported this was because of 'missiles' being thrown from the crowd at those horses, 'to unsettle them'.

Others may conclude, however, that those 'missiles' were in fact flowers being thrown in the general direction of the gun carriage as it passed by them.

Whether there's anything to the BBC reporting ... I don't know. Myself, I saw flowers, and not 'missiles'. Though, given the disreputableness of certain Lefties .. well, who knows.

I'm not a huge fan of funerals, so only watched a tad. I saw the flag draped coffin and the bells going strong at the church. Many around the world will miss her.

One last salute, Mrs. Thatcher, and may you RIP. :salute:

Those fucktards shouldn't be throwing ANYTHING towards the carriage, even if it is flowers. Spook those horses and it presents a huge danger to everyone nearby.

If they must throw flowers, wait til the carriage passes and out of the horses' line of sight.

I basically agree. Still .. if it WAS only flowers, I'd be at least fairly confident that the training they give the horses should take care of any potential problem. As it was, whatever they were contending with, the training held up. Not perfectly, maybe, but well enough.

... since seen some Sky News footage. They reported, and I've seen for myself, that there was a group in the crowd who took the opportunity to shout 'Maggie, Maggie, Maggie ... Death, Death, Death'.

Such is the nature of Leftieism .. zero respect for human life. They can't even civilise themselves enough to show respect for the dead.

Sir Drummond. What those idiots fail to recognize, understand, or comprehend when they make such vocal fools of themselves is...People like Me feel a warm sense of pride in knowing how millions of other people like me...Enjoy such actions, and without having to say so. Those Idiots just prove what most all of us have known about them for years.

So, when they come out in public to prove it. That becomes more of that "GIFT" that keeps on giving.

Sir Drummond. Considering how those folks there in the U.K. and here in the Socialist USA disrespected Mrs. Thatcher, and still hate Ronald Reagan

Personally. I look forward to Being around long enough...in my growing, old age. To Emulate, and Copy Liberals, Democrats, Progressives, and the Left by pretending I am ONE OF THEM before I die.
Which means. Whenever any Democrat, Liberal, Leftist dies in the future.
I MUST PERSONALLY CHEER, and show the Liberal Tolerance of Disrespect they have shown.
And even HAVE A PARTY when we hear about the Sudden, but Happy Ending of a Democrat, Liberal's life????

As they always say. "DO WHAT'S FAIR, and TREAT THEM EQUALLY?"

What a wonderful lady she was. And, even in her death. She is smarter, and more human than anyone I can name living today, who claims to be a member of the Democrat party, or leans Left.
She still bothers them. And that makes her GREATER than all of them combined.

Exactly ! Decades after she ceased to be Prime Minister, still, the Left feels driven to go to the revolting, and yet very instructive, lengths it does.

I call this a great compliment, in its way. She clearly hurt them, and hurt them badly, for them to need to hit back and STILL try to demonise her memory, after all this time. She has the power to get under their skin .. even though she's dead. The very IDEA of her is feared.

NEVER rely on the training to keep you safe around any horse. Horses are panicky animals that will do what it takes to get away from a perceived threat. They are single-minded and very much self-preserving.

I know horses that are VERY well trained yet have spooked at non-moving hay bales (their own food source, no less).

My horse is pretty 'bomb-proof', but that doesn't mean she can't be spooked, because she has been and has put me on the ground once because of it.
