Unbelievable.

Actual Salon Headline: 'Let’s Hope the Boston Marathon Bomber Is a White American'
As you might imagine, the author, David Sirota, is a perilously liberal political commentator.

Last month he participated in a CNN panel that compared supporters of traditional marriage to segregationists and slave owners.

During last year's summer Olympics, he said he had "pangs of discomfort" watching Americans cheer team USA.

Now, roughly 24 hours after our nation was once again hit with terrorism, Sirota wrote:

[W]hite non-Islamic terrorists are typically portrayed not as
representative of whole groups or ideologies, but as “lone wolf” threats
to be dealt with as isolated law enforcement matters. Meanwhile,
non-white or developing-world terrorism suspects are often reflexively
portrayed as representative of larger conspiracies, ideologies and
religions that must be dealt with as systemic threats — the kind
potentially requiring everything from law enforcement action to military
operations to civil liberties legislation to foreign policy shifts.

“White privilege is knowing that even if the bomber turns out to be
white, no one will call for your group to be profiled as terrorists as a
result, subjected to special screening or threatened with deportation,”
writes author Tim Wise. “White privilege is knowing that if this bomber
turns out to be white, the United States government will not bomb
whatever corn field or mountain town or stale suburb from which said
bomber came, just to ensure that others like him or her don’t get any
ideas. And if he turns out to be a member of the Irish Republican Army
we won’t bomb Dublin. And if he’s an Italian-American Catholic we won’t
bomb the Vatican.”

Abbey, can you see the liberal media covering the bombing if the bomber is a Muslim?

They will give it all the attention they are giving the killer abortion doctor in Philly

Abbey. Wonder if anyone has noticed a pattern with these people on the Anti-American News networks?
More specifically. The near total lack of Graduates from any known Journalism schools.
Seems most all of them are staunch Liberal, Wannabe dropouts, or washouts who get their 15 minutes of fame
in a Photo Booth at county fairs, carnivals, and on the Boardwalk at Atlantic City.

As I have posted before, conservatives believe liberals are simply wrong on the issues

While liberals believe conservatives are evil

The liberal media is in total dispair as the bombers were MUSLIMS

Oh they were so looking forward to the killers being a couple of white guys who were members of the Tea Party

and if there is a God, they would have had Romney 2012 bumber stickers on the back of their pickup trucks

Well, now the liberal media will have to deal with facts they do not like

So now they will simply ignore them or "report" how US foreign policy and Pres Bush - drove them to do what they did

I am so sick of these people, I don't even know what to say anymore.

Me too. I am damn tired of hearing and reading propaganda tossed out by their apologist appeasers too. Media crying that the likely cause of these "boys" going wrong is not known.

A careful study of the Quran and Muhammad’s life will reveal to any objective-minded person that Muhammad never talked to a supernatural deity or received revelation from such an entity. Muhammad invented Allah and turned him into a criminal god to give political power to himself and utilize his made-up teachings, allegedly received from a fictional Allah, as a religious and legal justification for his criminality!

Allah existed only in Muhammad's imagination. Muhammad and Allah were the same—two in one. Sanctioned by Allah, Muhammad practiced deceit, torture, murder, assassination, massacre, genocide, pillage, robbery, enslavement and rape as halal (legal) acts, deserving of paradise, as long as they were perpetrated on the infidels, all in the name of Allah!

These evil, immoral teachings became the eternal laws of Allah. Islam is not a religion but a dangerous politico-military masquerading religious ideology—intended for conquering the world for an imaginary Allah. The Koran is a declaration of open-ended war against the infidels. This war is permanent until all infidels have converted to Islam, or reduced to dhimmitude (institutionalized discrimination akin' to slavery status), murdered or enslaved—a cold-hard reality for the hear-no-evil, see-no-evil, do-nothing about- evil naive infidels.

To Muslims, Koran is a divine law-book for all times. Muslims cannot question or doubt the allegedly falsely created words of God contained in there Koran. Koranic teachings, the words of Allah, are immutable and stand valid for all times. Therefore, all teachings and sanction of the Koran must ideally be followed by Muslims at all walked to life until the end of the world.

Anyone surprised parts of the liberal media are ignoring the killers ties to Islam?

Now if they were Tea Party members or contributors to Mitt Romney.....................

After the media spent the week praying the Boston Marathon bombers wouldn't have ties to radical Islam, it's now going to be interesting to see how they report the religious beliefs of the Tsarnaev brothers.

Failing miserably Friday was NBC's Nightly News which despite airing a 90 minute special broadcast on the ensuing manhunt in Watertown, Massachusetts, according to an examination of the closed-caption transcript didn't once mention the Tsarnaev's Muslim connection.

http://newsbusters.org/sites/default/files/main_photos/2013/April/Boston%20420.png?1366469301By contrast, both ABC's World News Tonight and CBS's Evening News did report it.

The Nightly News's decision not to cover the Islamic tie was particularly odd given that this was exposed in NBC's 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM, and 2:00 PM special reports on the manhunt.

Yet there wasn't a word of the brothers' Islamic beliefs on Friday's Today show.

I guess NBC didn't want to bring this up during their two most-watched "news" programs.

and the NY Times and Boston Globe are shedding tears for the killers

NYT Headline Over Story on Bombing Suspects: 'Far From War-Torn Homeland, Trying to Fit In'

The New York Times has been mostly steady and factual in its coverage of the bombings at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. But the paper is taking criticism Friday for its benign headline over its online story on two terrorist suspects from Chechnya, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, killed in a shootout early Friday morning, and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, still on the loose Friday afternoon.

A headline writer went the extra mile to make the pair sound sympathetic: "Far From War-Torn Homeland, Trying to Fit In." After criticism, the headline evolved into...."Brothers Seen as Good Students and Avid Athletes (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/20/us/details-of-tsarnaev-brothers-boston-suspects-emerge.html?hp&pagewanted=all)." Much better?

Reporter Erica Goode made the two terrorist suspects sound rather normal:

One was a boxer who liked Russian rap videos and once said, “I don’t have a single American friend.”

The other, an all-star high school wrestler, listed “Islam” as his worldview on a Russian social-media page and was described by a neighbor as a “very photogenic kid” who had “a heart of gold.”

As a picture has begun to emerge of the two brothers, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, who are suspected of carrying out the bombings at the Boston Marathon, it was difficult to distinguish them from millions of other young people who come to the United States to forge a future. The authorities are scrambling to determine how they might have evolved into terrorists who would plant powerful bombs in a crowd of innocent people.

The blunt fact that an MIT police officer was killed in a firefight with the blast suspects suggests the Times should have passed on any attempts to portray them as lonely and alienated.

The Boston Globe's headlines over the paper's online profiles of the two men are less emotive: "Wrestling coach recalls Dzhokhar Tsarnaev as 'dedicated kid'" and "Older bombing suspect 'was up to no good,' cousin says."

Well the bombers turned out to be Muslims so now David Sirota turns his anger toward his fellow countrymen.

snip

1. Why did so many conservatives seem to want the suspects to be foreign-born Muslims?

My twitter feed and email box is a display of sheer unadulterated glee from conservatives celebrating the fact that the two suspects are allegedly immigrants of Muslim descent. These conservatives are overjoyed that my hopes of the opposite (http://www.salon.com/2013/04/16/lets_hope_the_boston_marathon_bomber_is_a_white_am erican/) did not come true. By obvious logic, then, they were hoping that the assailants ended up being anything but white non-Islamic Americans. Simple question: Why?

This week, I made a very clear case (http://www.salon.com/2013/04/16/lets_hope_the_boston_marathon_bomber_is_a_white_am erican/) about why I hoped (though certainly never predicted) the assailants ended up being non-Islamic white Americans. Simply put, I held those hopes because history shows that when terrorism suspects are non-white, foreign or Islamic – and in particular, the latter – we have witnessed an overreaction involving everything from preemptive wars to curtailed civil liberties (http://www.aclu.org/timelines/post-911-surveillance) to a serious increase in hate crimes (http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-report/browse-all-issues/2012/spring/fbi-dramatic-spike-in-hate-crimes-targetin) against groups that are collectively blamed, to polls showing a rise in bigotry (http://www.gallup.com/poll/125312/religious-prejudice-stronger-against-muslims.aspx) to a spate of violent attacks on targeted religions (http://www.aclu.org/maps/map-nationwide-anti-mosque-activity) to an increase in workplace discrimination against targeted minority groups (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/29/muslim-discrimination-cas_n_842076.html). By contrast, when terrorism suspects are non-Islamic white American males (as many (http://www.timwise.org/2013/04/terrorism-and-privilege-understanding-the-power-of-whiteness/) are), our governmental and cultural response tends to be more measured and (to say the least) less willing to demonize whole groups of innocent people.

Because of this, and because of the fact that the suspects had to be of some race/religion/ethnicity, I hoped for the former not the latter. I didn’t – and still don’t – want to see the kind of destructive and bigoted overreaction we’ve too often seen. It’s pretty simple.

Of course, now that the suspects are alleged to be Muslim, we will see if America follows the same historical path that we have before – one involving mass surveillance of whole religious communities (http://www.ap.org/Index/AP-In-The-News/NYPD), hate crimes, new Patriot Acts and calls for other punitive measures. Rush Limbaugh (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2013/04/16/limbaugh_if_boston_bomber_is_muslim_the_media_will _circle_the_wagons.html) insists that we won’t see such a response – and I sincerely hope he is right.

But events suggest history may already be repeat itself. Indeed, in the last few days, we’ve seen reports (http://colorlines.com/archives/2013/04/the_post-boston_islamophobic_hate_crimes_have_begun.html) of hate crimes against Muslims (before the suspects were identified, by the way) ; Homeland Security Committee chairman Rep. Peter King (R-NY) call (http://www.nationalreview.com/node/346125) for mass surveillance of all Muslims; Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/04/19/lindsey-graham-boston-bomber-could-be-held-as-enemy-combatant/) demand that the suspect – an American citizen – be deemed an enemy combatant and denied due process; the Obama administration deny Miranda rights (http://tv.msnbc.com/2013/04/20/bombing-suspect-in-custody-but-obama-administration-withholds-miranda-rights-for-now/) to the suspect; and New York State Sen. Greg Ball (R) (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/20/greg-ball-torture_n_3122524.html) call for the use of torture. Notably, these kinds of affronts to civil liberties and the constitution are almost never seen when terrorism suspects are white non-Islamic Americans.

All of this underscores my argument about why I had hoped the suspects ended up being white non-Islamic Americans. It also begs the aforementioned question: knowing the differences in how we react to Muslim terrorism and non-Islamic white American terrorism, why are so many conservatives gleefully cheering the possibility that the suspects are the former? Could it be that some Americans actually want to see the kind of bigoted, violent, civil-liberties-trampling reaction we tend to see when terrorism suspects end up being Muslim?
