LONDON (AP) — The terror plot involved targeting British reserve troops using a toy-car packed with explosives.

But investigators said Thursday Britain's domestic spy agency of MI5 and police were able to stop Zahid Iqbal, Mohammed Sharfaraz Ahmed, Umar Arshad and Syed Farhan Hussain before they could launch the deadly attack.

Iqbal and Ahmed were given extended sentences of 16 years and 3 months, which means they will be in jail for more than 11 years and put on parole for the rest of the time. Arshad was sentenced to more than six years in jail, while Hussain received more than five years.

The British men — aged between 22 and 31 — pleaded guilty in March to engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism.

The four were arrested a year ago in the town of Luton, north of London, after an operation by police and the MI5.

Prosecutors said the Britons downloaded files containing instructions for an attack, bought survival equipment and collected money for terrorist purposes. They also admitted "facilitating, planning and encouraging" overseas travel for terrorist purposes.

The men were recorded discussing sending a remote-controlled toy car carrying a homemade bomb under the gates of an army reservist center in Luton and speaking of using instructions in an al-Qaida manual to make an improvised explosive device.

"Using a toy-car as an explosive device may seem childish, but if they had succeeded in pulling this off, the consequences could have resulted in deaths and injuries, much like we have seen in recent days in Boston," said a British security official with knowledge of the investigation and who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to be named.

I'm afraid that Jafar will feel it his duty to sue the Daily Mail (and dream of donating a 'successful' libel case award to Hamas, his 'non-terrorists' of choice ?) ... since THEY don't have any doubts ...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2286746/Four-Islamic-terrorists-planned-attack-British-soil-guns-home-bombs.html?amp;ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490

Four Islamic extremists admitted plotting a terrorist attack on British soil armed with guns and home-made bombs.

The men were caught after in a massive multi-million pound surveillance operation by police and the security services.

Hidden bugs recorded them discussing methods, materials and targets for a terrorist attack, including using improvised explosive devices.

They downloaded illicit online terrorist instructions, purchased survival equipment and collected thousands of pounds to fund the plot.

Investigators looked on as they organised and undertook physical training and prepared to send others to Al-Qaeda camps in Pakistan.

Note the reference to Al Qaeda, that well-known NON-Islamic terrorist group ....

Come on, Jafar. We need to be informed of your impending plans to sue the Mail for every penny it's got !!

Fine by me if they could have been .. but unfortunately, we (like Jafar's Australia) effectively haven't had the death penalty for decades.

I say 'effectively', because nobody's been put to death since the 1960's. However, it was theoretically possible to receive a death sentence up until 1998, at which time the offenses of treason and piracy were included in its abolition, making its abolition a universally-applied statute in the UK.

Needless to say, it was our Lefties who were in power at the time .....

I remember this from a Clint Eastwood movie, I think it was "The Dead Pool".

He was driving his car and being chased by a radio-controlled toy car loaded with explosives.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev (http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/national/tamerlan-tsarnaev-dead-boston-marathon-bombing-suspect-name-released-by-nbc-news), the 26 year-old brother of the second Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, had a YouTube page where he posted religious videos, including a video of Feiz Mohammad, a fundamentalist Australian Muslim preacher (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/6273629.stm) who rails against the evils of Harry Potter. Among those videos is one dedicated to the prophecy of the Black Banners of Khurasan which is embraced by Islamic extremists—particularly Al Qaeda. The videos posted on what appears to be Tsarnaev's YouTube page may shed light on the motivations for the attack on the Boston Marathon. The prophecy states that an invincible army will come from the region of "Khurasan," a large portion of territory in central Asia.
"This is a major hadith (reported saying of the prophet Muhammad) that jihadis use, it is essentially an end-time prophecy," says Aaron Zelin, a fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy "This is definitely important in Al Qaeda's ideology." In The Black Banners, former FBI agent Ali Soufan's book about his pursuit of Al Qaeda that is named after this prophecy, Soufan describes the prophecy this way:Khurasan is a term for a historical region spanning northeastern and eastern Iran and parts of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and northwestern Pakistan. Because of the hadith, jihadists believe that this is the region from which they will inflict a major defeat against their enemies—in the Islamic version of Armageddon.
The older Tsarnaev seems to have posted the video four months ago under the username "muazseyfullah." According to Zelin, "Mu'az is usually a name," and "Sayf Allah means sword of God." Here is the video:

Brilliant post, Tyr. Spot on.

Still, we know Jafar's 'answer'. The Australian Muslim preacher is no 'Muslim at all'. He can't be. After all, Jafar says so .. even if the world in its entirety would disagree ...

But here's what I don't get. Why, in this weirdo's fevered excuse for a 'mind', does he think Harry Potter is 'evil' ??

Perhaps Jafar can find us a Hadith aimed at JK Rowling (?) ... or, maybe, he'll arrange a Fatwa against her, of the type Salman Rushdie had to endure ..

They are not 'really' Muslims.
