Kerry bows out of '08 presidential race

WASHINGTON -- Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, the Democrats' losing presidential candidate in 2004, does not intend to run again in 2008, a Democratic official said Wednesday.

This official said Kerry intends to seek a new six-year term in the Senate.

Kerry plans to disclose his political plans in remarks on the Senate floor later in the day, according to this official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid pre-empting a formal announcement.

Kerry, 64, who lost the White House when Ohio voted for President Bush by 118,601 votes on election night in November 2004, was attending a Senate Foreign Relations Committee meeting and unavailable for comment.

His decision leaves a field of nine Democrats running or signaling their intention to do so, including Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York and Barack Obama of Illinois, and Kerry's 2004 running mate John Edwards.

he realizes he has no choice and Teresa is probably holding the lock box over him to not put her through that again. She really didnt want him to do it the first time.

would really hurt his ego to run again and lose. He might get the impression people didn't like him.

Funny... he didn't do so much worse than your guy. And with Bush at 28% approval rating, I'd say he's liked far less than Kerry at this point. ;)

That said, I'm glad he isn't running because he ran a terrible campaign. He should have been able to pound your guy with his hands behind his back given Bush's poor approval ratings even during the election cycle. Kerry just didn't give people a reason to fire the current occupant of the WH.

And if I hear the name Donna Brazile as head of any campaign this time around, I'm going to gag.

Well when you announce that you want to give Iran nuclear materials on national television you definately dont deserve to lead this country.

That and until he releases his military records he is going to have problems with the swifties. I mean if his record is so exemplary like he claims, why didn't he ever release it? Unless of course its going to back up the claims the Swift boat vets were making.

Why? Her basic life motivation is "kill the white boys." I thought that was Item No. 52 on the Democratic platform.
