Atheists are such idiots. These people aren’t even true atheists because if they were they would have no problem with a symbol

The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) is, once again, going after a memorial aimed at commemorating American lives lost in a combat zone. A Vietnam display in a park in Coos Bay, Ore., is the latest target of atheist activists who are committed to church-state separatism.

The memorial is comprised of a cross design, with a placard on its base. As is typically the case when a religious symbol is included in a memorial, the FFRF is claiming that the cross’ presence is unconstitutional.

As KCBY-TV reports (http://www.kcby.com/news/local/Group-wants-Vietnam-memorial-removed-from-park-199070721.html), the atheist organization recently sent a letter to City Manager Rodger Craddock, calling out the cross as problematic and charging that it is an “endorsement of Christianity over other religions and over nonreligion.” The FFRF wants it immediately removed from the park.

“It is unlawful for Coos Bay to display a patently religious symbol such as a Christian cross on public property,” the letter reads (http://images.bimedia.net/documents/03-18-2013+Letter+-+Mingus+Park+Memorial.pdf), in part.
Currently, the city is reviewing its options.

“The city received it (the letter) and we passed it off to our city attorney to review that and relevant case law,” Craddock told the CBS affiliate (http://www.kcby.com/news/local/Group-wants-Vietnam-memorial-removed-from-park-199070721.html). “Obviously these issues are happening around the nation.”

It won't go anywhere. There is no such thing as FREEDOM FROM RELIGION.

Those words..if these So-called Atheists wish to be credible with this case. Are not found in the Constitution.

So. They cannot fight to eliminate something that doesn't exist in the first place.

This is just another of their ANNUAL attention getting demonstrations where IGNORANCE, HATRED, And STUPIDITY thrive for all to see.

Once again. Just another notch in the IGNORANCE controlling the Majority by a tiny minority that is offended, insulted, and angered with EVERYTHING.

Another sure sign that the America we've all grown up in, and known. Is slowly being destroyed by MOB RULE with the biggest mouth's and Most Money.

Sad thing is. The very Memorial that Honors Fallen Americans who died....does so...IRONICALLY...for the Idiots who complain the most about something that doesn't, and can't hurt them, or their freedom to speak.

How sad.

Not quite the same thing, of course .. but the reference to a war memorial reminded me of a recent story in the UK.

This might well have a connection to the Lee Rigby murder, in Woolwich, recently -

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/10088153/Police-hunting-man-over-war-memorial-vandalism.html

In the wake of tensions over the brutal murder of 25-year-old Drummer Rigby, vandals painted the word Islam in large red letters on the structure remembering those killed in the Second World War, and also on the nearby Animals in War memorial.

Jim Dooley, chairman of the Bomber Command Memorial Fundraising Committee, said: "I'm hoping for three things - firstly that we catch the perpetrator, secondly that people will realise that if they desecrate memorials they are going to be seen on TV and thirdly, that we can repair the damage as quickly as possible.

"The men whose sacrifice is commemorated by the memorial died to win the freedoms we all enjoy today, and sometimes, sadly, there are people who don't respect that. What has happened is a real sickener."

What ever happened with the cross near San Diego? Where some nonprofit bought the land in the immediate vicinity of the cross. Anybody know?

These must be some seriously WEAK people if they can't handle a cross or similar. I say just take donations from civilians, then place it on private property along the most traveled road, and then make it about 6x higher than originally planned. For people who don't believe in religion they sure do get involved a lot!

Our Founders are surely spinning like animals on a spit in their graves. Regardless of your feelings on religious symbols in public places, it's high time we passed a law Grandfathering every memorial already in place, and STHU. (I'll bet you can put prayer rugs there and pray away, though).

The Communist and Atheist sarks only show how pathetic and weak humans can be about their principles.
The Feminist sark is laughable to the point of embarrassing.

As for the OP, meh, their are much better things the activists could be highlighting and tackling.

jimnyc: That has always been so confusing for me. If they...the Atheists...claim THERE IS NO GOD, and therefore...nothing to worship by placing a cross over a grave.

The reality is....THEY ARE CLAIMING THAT SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT EXIST....
SHOULD NOT BE THERE FOR THEM TO BE OFFENDED BY IF IT IS OFFENSIVE.

So...if it doesn't exist IN THEIR MISERABLE minds. There is NOTHING there. So they are offended by something that isn't there????

Did I say that right????
