My son's last day of school is this upcoming Thursday. He'll be going to camp daily until the 2nd week of August, and then him and I are going to Florida, as he'll be staying with the in-laws for 3 weeks. I'm stuck there for 4 days and am anticipating it like I anticipated my neck surgery! :)

I think I may take the boy camping upstate NY on one of the weekends too. Anyone know how to get air conditioning in a tent?

My kids were out last Thursday. I packed them and my wife up and sent them off camping last Saturday. They will be up there until the 23rd of this month with me hopping up over the weekend to visit ( I hate having to work at times like this).
As for air conditioning in a tent? Buy a "tent" like mine

We are not planning much. Usually we take a trip or two during the summer, but we are holding off because we are going to Australia during winter break (which is summer Down Under).
I have signed my daughter up for Science Camp and Reading Adventure Series.

I will earn some extra bucks by doing the summer counseling co-op.

two weeks worth of swim lessons for my son, so he can pass the BSA swim test at camp in August and make 1st Class. A few days at Dorney Park/Wildwater Kingdom. A few day trips to the shore, etc. BBQ's with the family. SSDD

The kids have been out for three weeks already but swim team for one, a camp or two, and a trip to MI before school starts in early August.

If you need air conditioning for a tent, you don't need a tent. You need an RV. Or a hotel room.

I don't like the other 2 home built ones, but this one seems "real". But the pigtail cord is apparently 10 feet. Where are you supposed to plug the damn thing in? Even my truck doesn't charge unless it's running! I "think" I have an emergency battery flashlight thingy, which in an emergency gives you light, a few outlets for regular cords and also a cigarette lighter style. But they are for emergencies and I don't think it would work overnight!

Yeah, they want the camping though. Maybe I'll have them drop me off at the closest Hilton or Ramada and come pick me back up in the AM for breakfast. :)

My sister once heard about people going camping in school and suggested it one summer day when we were much younger. My mother offered to let us camp out in the backyard. Since she knew we were both not going to be happy. We lasted about two hours. Which is how long it took the couple who once lived in back of my parents house to start yelling at each other. Following by two yowling fighting cats.

One of my co-workers is now dealing with the camping issue with her kids. She told me that the last time she went camping was when the Northridge earthquake caused everyone in her neighborhood to camp out in a park across the street.

Yeah, either you love it or you hate it. I grew up camping non-stop, but we had campers/trailers. And we had beds and air conditioning! Which reminds me, not only do I need a portable air conditioner, but an air mattress to go with it! No way in hell I sleep on rocks and tree roots.

Pitch your tent here and it will be naturally air conditioned. However, from June until August the mosquito is the territorial bird.

Go to Walmart and pick up a memory foam mattress topper to place under your sleeping bag. It makes a huge difference.
