That’s the issue facing California lawmakers as they consider Assembly Bill 1266 – legislation that would require all public schools to allow students to access to facilities consistent with their gender identity.

England said the bill would allow students of any gender to access public school bathrooms and locker rooms of their choice. It would also students to participate in sports activities based on “that student’s assertion that he or she identifies as having a different private sense of their own gender regardless of their biological gender at birth.”

England said parents or students who feel uncomfortable with their daughters showering next to boys – are being accused of being bigots.

“And now if a girl doesn’t want to shower with a boy, there’s something wrong with you,” She said.
The assemblyman’s office provided a statement acknowledging that some parents and students may be uncomfortable with the law.
“Discomfort is not an excuse for discrimination,” he said in a statement.

I bet the high school boys will be very happy to shower and change with the girls.:suck::boobies::shower:

Dumb asses Sure ,why not? Something we only dreamed about back in the day but hey we were just dinosaurs with old archaic values and a filthy normal sex drive. Now the progressives are teaching how to be enlightened. We old dinosaurs only dreamed of such.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: "Gender Identity" is an entirely made up concept by liberal progressives based on nothing more than anecdotal evidence given by unstable individuals who believe they were born into the wrong sex. It's all crap but states like California and Vermont march to the beat of their own crazy drum.

Let's just forget the whole issue of Gender Identity and take a moment to consider the common sense fact that men's restrooms are also built the way they are because men pee standing up. So, even if you think you are a woman trapped in a man's body, why the hell would you waste time going to the women's restroom? Is it just to satisfy your need to "feel" like a woman? If that's the case, we sure as hell shouldn't be creating laws to the detriment of the majority to satisfy the "feelings" of a relatively handful of people.

Someone please remind me if this passes. I'm going to re-enroll in college, with a high female to male ratio. I will then study to be a gym teacher, so as to be in my locker room full of gals all day long. :)

P.S. - only an idiot would pass this legislation. If I had a daughter, she would be taught to carry a mini-crowbar and hit any man that enters where she changes, even if the idiot claims he feels more like a "woman".

As a parent I'd have to ask they wouldn't just assign one bathroom for both sexes, kind of like family bathrooms as the malls??

On an aside my daughter signed up for college and found out that there were boys on the same floor of the dorm bldg. she wanted. She ended up switching buildings.

When I was in college in the 1970s (yes, they had colleges back then) I was in coed dorms all four years. There were separate bathrooms. No problem.

The guys dorm rooms (where you lived) were often next to girls' rooms. There were no rooms where a guy and a girl lived together, except in (rare) married housing. But occasionally you'd find a few unmarrieds mixing and matching, quietly.

In that school, virtually all undergraduate sutents lived on-campus in dorms. There were no fraternities or sororities, but something called "eating clubs" whhich were frats without bedrooms. A few all-male, mostly coed, I don't recall any all-female clubs (Princeton had just gone coed three years before I got there).

BTW, you can surgically remove a man's penis, put a hole there, and pump him full of hormones. He's still a man. Similar situation for a woman.

A so-called "transgender" has not switched sexes, but only undergone genital mutilation.

What's the problem? Considering how difficult it has become to determine any differences between male, and female today. And since a large growing percentage of American students have more Female traits, and character traits. Who really cares anymore? Especially the girls who feel safer being around Gay's..who seem to present NO problems.

This is the kind of society they want. Let them decide. After all. Obama signed that bill last week to allow ALL young girls to get BIRTH CONTROL.

How many of you have young daughters, or sisters not old enough to go on rides at the Fair????

Obama has made it possible for YOUR 5 or 6 year old little girl....to protect herself from rapists, and pedo's.

That's what you wanted for our children? That's what you got. Bathrooms mean nothing. UNLESS it is YOU.
And YES. I know..we're talking about locker rooms. Locker rooms are almost always connected to Rest rooms.

An excellent comment IMHO

So it's okay for the "transgender" child to be uncomfortable with children of the SAME sex, but it's not okay for girls to be uncomfortable with a boy in the bathroom? pot calling the kettle much?

I have to believe that not even California will go so far as to make this a law. Hell, I'm an adult and if a man walks into a public bathroom while I'm in there I'd walk out.

Well the wife and I went out to eat a few weeks ago and there were three bathrooms; men, women, and either. The latter I would presume for overflow but considering the part of town we were in I could easily be wrong.

simply, easy solution. That way anyone going into the either bathroom knows what to expect and no one is uncomfortable'.

I don't know. "either" could be code for "George Michael Approved".

I wonder what the resident Muslim population would have to say about this. They have strict rules in their religion about gender-mixed facilities. I remember when I was in middle school, we had one Muslim girl, and she was not allowed to do the swimming unit in gym class (our school had a full size indoor pool). I am actually friends with her on Facebook.

Any place offering such bathroom choices I'll not eat at. I should trust my food to people that think like that!?? Not on yours or anybody else's life .... We rarely ever eat now simply because its so hard to know who is back there preparing our food .. My wife is an excellent cook so eating 99.9% meals at home is a breeze for us. -Tyr

Do you mean the kind of people who give another option because the lady's bathroom is always overcrowded while the men's room is underutilized? Yeah, that's crazy. If it's the other then I won't let prejudice determine where I eat especially when the clientele that may patronize the establishment is highly selective with higher disposable income than the average consumer. There are plenty of places with less than three bathrooms that I would trust less, thanks though.

Aka: your state government, its' elected officials, and your residents (legal and illegal) that elected them...thus the elected officials are supposed to be a representative of the opinions and desires of the general populous...

If just an extra bathroom no problem , otherwise a problem with me. I like things nice and normal. I do not warm up to perversion well. -Tyr

"Biological gender at birth"...can someone please explain to the "journalist" who wrote the OP that social identity constructs such as masculine and feminine are not biological.

Designated? Not that I noticed. Either way I'm sure they're unconcerned with how you like things.

Tyr - riddle me this

Why can't gays drive faster than 68 mph?

Because at 69 they blow a rod.

WHat I really want to know is how they are going to determine who is able to use these locker rooms and who cannot. Suppose a perv decides he wants to get in there just to be a perv, so claims he has a gender identity issue. (Hey, don't discount it, I've seen people do MUCH stranger things for a LONG stretch at times...).

So WHO is going to determine this one can have access, and this one can't? And how do you prove that this one should have access, and this one shouldn't? Effing stupid if you ask me. When I was younger, and someone may have thought of this, the 'authorities' simply would have stated "You're a boy, you fucking idiot, and you have a penis, you go into THAT room, end of story"

Special state issued ID cards, stating ones gender identity? Perhaps a national register of gender ID?

Marcus and Jim. Ya know? There really is a very simple answer to this problem. :) If California insists on allowing boys to use girl's locker rooms. The State should first...determine if the boys are really boys, and issue VIAGRA tablets. :)

If the boys are REAL boys, and proud of their NEWFOUND "stiff upper Lip" :) so to speak. Let the girls decide if they want the VIAGRA boys to enter, and spend any time.

The Girls should get to make the determination. Not the boys. :)

you know, this seems like a simple plumbing issue to me:

penis=boy
vagina=girl
both=hermaphodite

that's not bigotry, its basic biology, regardless of how you choose to identify yourself, you're a boy or a girl based on biology, not point of view. you can be an effeminate boy, or a butch girl, and that's fine, but your gender is still a set thing.
