While this is a great read, there is one, fairly glaring, technical error I see. Can you spot it?

I don't see the technical error apart from the headline embellishment.

According to Nathan Barnes, president of L’Garde, the ship will launch in the fall of 2014 on a 1.9-million mile voyage to the sun from Cape Canaveral, Fla.

the distance to the sun from earth is about 93 million miles.

Aha. Thank you. If that thing is going into orbit around the sun only 2 million miles from earth, it doesn't really seem significant enough to load Clarke's DNA into it. Or, maybe I just think too much of Clarke and think he deserves something a little bigger :)

If anyone believes the trip will only be 1.9 million miles to the sun...as written. Clarke's DNA is just gonna become another Planet, orbiting the sun 91 million miles short of Being BURNED UP.
