So true Abbey. But. As we are all seeing, and learning. History, for History's sake. No longer applies when selfishness, hatred, and stupidity rule the day. Having no educational experience causes the selfishness, better known as dependence, or what eventually has been identified as Reparations...also called Modern Socialism where Mob Rule has determined how unfair, and selfish it is for anyone to have MORE than someone else. SO, those demanding the Reparations will just follow Mob Rule, and TAKE whatever they feel is rightly theirs...forgetting, and ignoring all laws.

BUCHANAN TO OBAMA
By Patrick J. Buchanan (sorry, no link)

Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America .. Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation.. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.... This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:

First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.. Jeremiah Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.
We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude??

Barack talks about new 'ladders of opportunity' for blacks. Let him go to Altoona ? And Johnstown, and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for 'deserving' white kids...? Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America ? Is it really white America 's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?

Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?

As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?

Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?

We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena . And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.

Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago. This needs to be passed around because, this is a message everyone needs to hear!!!

I'm for a better America…
I am
Not racist,
Not violent,
Just not silent anymore.

Many may disagree with me on this but. I see the endless, racial problems we have in America being caused by two, primary faults.

The first is, as many should agree...the lack of a complete Family where a father, and mother share the responsibilities for bringing up their children, and SECOND....The outright, almost absolute Lack of Education. Not only by the children but, by the parents. Most often a single, young woman pushed into bringing up the children alone.

And finally. The reasons I see this problem continues to fester, and grow is because....reality is...People like Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton have a huge amount of pull, and millions of UNEDUCATED followers who aren't smart enough to see, or know how they are being played as PAWNS, or Puppets for Jesse, Al, and even Obama with his Democrat friends.

All of those I mentioned above DO NOT WANT BLACK AMERICANS to become educated, smarter, knowledgeable because. IF THEY DO. It ruins all of the POWER being grabbed, and profits from that Power...slowly goes away. Making the Obama's, Jesse's, and Al's less profitable if they have FEWER PAWNS to follow them.

To me, the worst results are those of 'unintended consequences.' The destruction of the black family was directly related to the 'War on Poverty.' Even in slavery, the union of mates was considered sacred, even when rent by selling and separation of spouses. Even when the owners raped and impregnated the females.

After Reconstruction, blacks still held close to family and religion. Again, societal pressures often caused distances between spouses or partners. Fathers, even when dead were still the model for young males and females in how to behave or what to look for in a mate.

With the beginnings of actual civil rights in 40's and 50's, black families were more in tact than white families, which was saying a lot. While divorce was uncommon, whites did in a larger percentage than blacks. Neither had illegitimate children in any significant number.

The 60's War on Poverty drastically changed the dynamics. Single mothers could get help in housing, medical care, and food, without work. Only if there wasn't a 'father' in the home. Marriages crumbled, even when 'relations' continued, for a time. When the father wasn't required for survival of family, both father and mother too often looked for greener pastures.

Without male role models, young progeny of the unions began to falter, the government tried to step in.

The spiral continues and now it's not only the blacks with the problem.

I saw an interesting take on the issue last night; with the higher incarceration rate of black males, black females facing greater competition for the available males are forced to lower their own standards to attract partners. Of course this means black males are likely to find a black female who will allow them to be less responsible.

I would write a long piece but . i think iwill keep it simple and to one point made here.

Abby's picture of the Union soldiers. and the comment by Buchanan about that sacrifice as well.

OK. when Lincoln freed the slaves and the union won and black men got the vote. who did blacks vote for for over a generation? white republicans. why? Gratitude. When the democrats in the 1950' 60's began to do what Buchanan mentioned as gifts for blacks from the public (as Kath mention some of that wasn't helpful). and voted for civil rights that began to allow black workers to get positions, live in areas, go to schools, eat, use the bathroom etc were they were denied before.
the gratitude? a hardcore most loyal voting block for white democrats have ever had.

Many whites don't read histories of Blacks, or biographies of blacks. In them you'll find both gratitude for heroic and loving white people. Read Fredrick Douglas autobiography for example. but he pulled no punches on the overall treatment and the system and the prevailing attitude.
Same today for the most part, if you ask a successful black person his/her story they will tell you the good bad and ugly of their experience with race. what part makes the news? What part makes the right wing blogs?
