What happened the LAST time we hit the National Debt ceiling, in 2011?

Answer: Pretty much the same thing that's happening now.

In May 2011, the TEA Party Republicans dug in their heels and refused to raise the National Debt Limit.

For a while.

And guess what happened to that refusal by Republicans, to raise the Debt Ceiling back in May 16, 2011 - Aug. 1, 2011?
