68 years ago today, on August 5, 1945, a single B-29 bomber dropped a single uranium bomb on the city of Hiroshima, Japan. 80,000 Japanese people were killed, and no Americans. By the end of 1945, approx. 30,000 more Japanese had died from injuries, starvations, and radiation.

Three days later, on August 8, a plutonium bomb was caried to Kobe, Japan. But the city was hidden by clouds, so the plane turned and flew to the alternate target, Nagasaki, and dropped it there instead. 50,000 people died from the explosion, with 20,000 more dying within a few months.

The bombing help end the war quickly, made an invasion of the Japanese home islands unnecessary, and saved millions of Japanese and American casualties that would have died in such an invasion.

I pray that the events that made it necessary, never happen again.

Little-Acorn. As do I. However. If, and when it does happen again.

NONE OF US WILL KNOW IT, or BE HERE TO TALK ABOUT IT!

Gaffer. Do you happen to remember what the ACRONYM "M.A.D." or "Mutually Assured Destruction" means?

Ahmadinnerjacket, or anyone else in Iran who are nut cases....who would dare to use a Nuke, would surely know how "MAD" would become effective immediately. Especially from Israel.

Today is a day all of Mankind should remember, and take seriously.

One of those cases where "Those who ignore, or forget History...will eventually repeat it!"

I remember MAD very well. But it only works if both sides are afraid of the consequences. And in the case of the crazy 12th imamers it doesn't apply. Ahmadinnerjacket said himself that it didn't matter if iran was wiped out as long as the 12th imam returned. And remember it's the ayatollah that's in charge there, not their president.

Wow! We could have had our Kobe beef pre-cooked by the lingering radioactivity. Its lamentable that repeat performances didn't occur in Pyongyang in 1953 and Hanoi in 1969. The Reds in North Korea have rendered more death and suffering than a nuclear bomb ever could.

Gaffer. Yes. I know. But somehow. I suspect Those IDIOTS who claim to be in charge of Iran, and other Miserable places would really be hurting themselves. Depriving each other of the GAY tendencies, and Porn available on the Internet on a 24/7 basis, from their SEQUESTERED palaces, and concubines of Young Boys, and Sheep.
