This is awesome!!

In 2008, Dmitry Agarkov received an unsolicited letter from Tinkoff Credit Systems (TCS) offering the 42-year-old Russian man a credit card with what he found to be unattractive rates.

While most people would have just thrown away the letter, Agarkov decided to do something different. He scanned the contract in the letter into his computer and altered it in his favor, including, for example, a 0% interest rate, no fees, and no credit limit. Moreover, every time the bank didn't stick to these rules, they'd be fined 3 million rubles — $91,000 — which of course would go to Agarkov. If they broke the contract, they'd have to pay Agarkov 6 million rubles ($182,000).

Agarkov's altered contract was, surprisingly, accepted and he received a credit card. "The Bank confirmed its agreement to the client's terms and sent him a credit card and a copy of the approved application form," Agarkov's lawyer Dmitry Mikhalevich told Kommersant this week.

Two years later TCS sought to close the account due to overdue payments, and at this point, things began to get difficult.

Russia Today reports that in 2012 TCS decided to sue Agarkov for 45,000 rubles ($1,363), an amount that featured fees and charges not included in the altered contract. This week a Russian judge decided that Agarkov was right — as the bank had signed the contract (apparently without looking at it), they were legally bound to it, and Agarkov was only asked to pay his outstanding balance of 19,000 rubles ($575).

TCS isn't out of trouble yet either. Agarkov has reportedly decided to sue the group for breaking the terms of the contract, allegedly for 24 million rubles ($727,000). The court will review his case in September, Russia Today reports.

Wow! Jim, that is quite a story. At first I thought it was a joke. In fact, at first glance, I thought it was going to be a revised story from the late GREAT Jerry Clower.....talk about smarts, that Russian must be related to ole Uncle Versie Ledbetter. HA! Hope ya'll enjoy the following:

I couldn't successfully loaded the darn thing so I uploaded the MP3 to the following link (just click the PLAY icon under the red SUBMIT button. Jim, I see IMAGE, VIDEO and ATTACHMENT but the ATTACHMENT route didn't seem to work and the others certainly don't. Perhaps my MP3 file is too large or it had a symbol in it that your site doesn't accept. Hope it brings some of you guys a great big laugh!

Jim's article immediately made me think of this old joke (which may be true as Jerry often says that his stories are true but the names have been changed due to privacy issues with some of his friends, family and neighbors).

Don't worry about finding the icon....after thinking about it, I changed it to auto play so that all ya'll have to do is click the link.

I have enjoyed the humor of Jerry Clower for YEARS!!! I also enjoyed Justin Wilson's stories as he cooked on PBS.

Anyway, hope the change I made makes it easier for those to listen in.

Jim, even after taking out incorrect symbols out of the file....I still can't get it to load. My only alternative was to post the link. I may try and take out the spaces and see if that works. I can't recall ever posting sound bytes before on a forum....now I see why. HA!!!!

At any rate....and getting back to the topic of Jim's thread.....if that Russian, is indeed of any relation to Uncle Ledbetter or is Russia's equivalent of a "good ole country boy" the lesson to learn may simply be: DON'T MESS WITH A GOOD OLE SOUTHERN COUNTRY BOY cuz you will not come out well.

Yeah, Larry, I have many that most folks have never heard. You can't even find that one on YouTube. Believe me, I tried after I couldn't load this blame thing on Jim's site. My only alternative was to create a link and send it that way. No trouble really but it would have been a lot easier to simply paste a YouTube link in. HA!!!!

Glad you enjoyed it....I can send you a bunch if you like (may have to do it through an email though.

Jim, what would be the best way to do that.....or simply post a sound byte for the next time?
