Well, Howard Dean is wrong on this one. If the Democrats don't end the war it will be because the Republicans stopped up the process. The American public knows that not one of the GOP presidential candidates is looking to end this conflict and if it's not over by election time then the Democrats will retake the White House and possibly a super majority in the Senate.

Id love to know how any of you Democrats conclude that removing our troops will stop Al Qaida from attacking us.

al-qaeda attacked us BEFORE we had troops in Iraq

al-qaeda attacked us WHILE we have troops in Iraq

al-qaeda will attack us AFTER we withdraw troops from Iraq

The only question is will we make it EASY for them to attack us. Leaving troops in country will make it simple for them to kill more of our troops. The Arab League has been ready and willing to put a force in Iraq for sometime now but your Boy George isn't interested in a solution that he cannot control. Kurds, Shia and Sunni do not relish the idea of conducting a civil war where Muslim troops may be in the line of fire. They could give a shit less whether American troops are in the line of fire. In fact, they relish it. Wake up, sonny boy. We are targets there and until we get out of the line of fire, al-qaeda uses us for target practice.

Allow me to try to explain something to you--again. Americans civilians and our allies ARE targets all over the world. Al quaeda hates anything in the middle east that isn't Arab or Miuslim. Some hate anyone who is not a Muslim.
They decide to kill them (which is illegal if you want to go that route).

As a reponse, America decided that it didn't like being a sitting duck so it struck back in areas of the world where Al queda was and could possibly gain support from. The strategy is to kill them and disrupt their havens oveseas so they are weakened and less able to strike AGAIN on American soil.

Americans were informed by Bush that this would be a long and hard struggle. He did not promise that no soldiers would be killed in this war. So far the strategy is working quite well.

Ask all the dead al quaeda if they feel as if THEY felt a bit like they were targets or let's just see how many of the dead ones launch any attacks on American soil or shoot any more of our troops.

Judging success of a mission by ONLY counting dead American soldiers is not an accurate method.

Have you forgotten 9/11? Were the World Trade Centers "in line of fire"? Were the civilians killed by Al Qaida "in the line of fire"? How the hell is running away from them going to keep us out of the line of fire when all they will do is start targetting us at home?

Obviously in your opinion, its better to hide than to fight. And t hat viewpoint is completely absurd to any rational person.

Did you miss the story about the Fort Dix Six? Six terrorists who wanted to shoot up Ft. Dix, NJ? Or how about the 4 guys who wanted to blow up JFK? Both groups were comprised of Muslim terrorists. They aren't stopping their fight against us.

American troops in iraq are NOT targets. They are shooting back with a lot more effect than the AQ. Look at the news reports, they always leave out the number of AQ casualties which are numbering in the thousands per month. Our soldiers are right where they need to be to fight AQ and any other islamist groups.
