The sad thing is about 1/3 of the nation will believe this latest economic gem coming from our man child President

This is President Obama in all his sneeringly condescending glory:

"Now, this debt ceiling -- I just want to remind people in case you haven't been keeping up -- raising the debt ceiling, which has been done over a hundred times, does not increase our debt; it does not somehow promote profligacy. All it does is it says you got to pay the bills that you've already racked up, Congress. It's a basic function of making sure that the full faith and credit of the United States is preserved."

Obama went on to suggest that "the average person" mistakenly thinks that raising the debt ceiling means the U.S. is racking up more debt:
"It's always a tough vote because the average person thinks raising the debt ceiling must mean that we're running up our debt, so people don't like to vote on it, and, typically, there's some gamesmanship in terms of making the President's party shoulder the burden of raising the -- taking the vote."
Get that? You're too stupid to understand this government stuff so just trust me when I say that raising the debt celing is really a good thing because it ensures the full faith and credit of the US.

After that...ooops! I mean, we can't help it if we raise the debt ceiling by 2 trillion dollars and lo and behold, Congress goes and overspends that 2 trillion, thus adding to the debt. But that extra 2 trillion added to our national debt wasn't because we raised the debt ceiling, right?

By this time, the "average person" thinks Obama is a putz when it comes to economics. With statements like that, who can blame them?

Agreed. But then. Consider who, and what Obama Thinks he is. As the failed, economics genius who taught people how to make ONE vote, become TWO votes by calling himself a Community DIS-organizer with Acorns for Brains.

Well, in technical, it doesn't. Just as leaving a six pack of beer with an alcoholic doesn't mean he's drunk. It does mean that you have provided the junkie with their drug of choice, and it will get consumed in rapid succession.

Doesn't matter what Obama says about whether it is, or isn't an increase in the debt.

Truth is. We, the People, and our Government, are about to become BANKRUPT, if we haven't already.

So this discussion means nothing since NOT ONE OF US HERE on this forum can do anything about it, or what Obama calls it.

Even though I mean this as a joke, knowing Obama he would really do it

Obama files Chapter 7 on behalf of America and gets our debt discharged

Obama then goes on national TV and bellows the US is now debt free

Obama lap dogs like FU and Arbo (and the others) jump for joy and shout how great Obama is

and the liberal media and Dems call for increased "investments" since Obama solved our debt problem

Just wait till Americans who happily voted for Obama and the Democrats due to their ignorance begin going to their banks, or using their ATM's, or cashing their FOOD STAMPS, and get

this in return....http://icansayit.com/images/monomony.jpg

Well technically Obama is correct and he knows he is playing his words carefully. Raisng the debt ceiling does not increase the debt per se, however, since our government has a spending problem, it does raise the debt in all practical reality.

I doubt we could do worse with MC Hammer controlling the money.

Agreed, in theory he is right, but in reality, it allows the debt to be bigger, aka government has more to spend. As of yet, they have never failed to spend money when it is available (and even when it isn't). So raising the ceiling means they WILL spend more and put us further in debt.
