I only took this cause one of our local male 20 something DJ's took it and scored a 7 out of 13 and then stated this is why I am a DJ...lol

I scored an 11 out of 13.

My unschooled 17 year old scored a 10 out 13. According to him, some of these questions are common sense... hmmm I disagree.

This quiz is a joint effort between the Pew Research Center and Smithsonian magazine.

See below how your results compare with the 1,006 randomly sampled adults that took part in our national survey and review how you responded to each question. For more findings from the survey, read "Public's Knowledge of Science and Technology." (http://www.people-press.org/2013/04/22/publics-knowledge-of-science-and-technology/)

You scored better than 75% of the public, below 15% and the same as 10%.
Surprised me. Guess YOU CAN teach Old Dogs....new tricks.

I only missed the Nitrogen question. However, I answered some questions to what I thought they wanted to hear, not what I believe.

I only missed the Nitrogen question. However, I answered some questions to what I thought they wanted to hear, not what I believe. I missed that one I now know. Almost clicked on nitrogen but last micro second hit the wrong answer----oxygen.

CSM. I should have changed my score to match yours. But then. I'm not a Democrat, and when I vote. I only vote ONCE.

Don't know why everything has to be a major competition, where everybody just HAS TO BE BETTER than everyone else.

Congrats on your score

Tyr. As Tony Soprano would say...."Forgetaboutit!"

Nobody won, or lost anything. The firing squad wasn't activated. It won't cost you anything, and if anything...It let us know. Despite our AGE. We can keep up with the younger WHIPPERSNAPPERS who think they have all of the answers.

No problem. Just fun.

I bet the question that trips most up is the dominant gas in our atmosphere

13/13. Always good to be vindicated for the loads of trivial crap I know.

Unlike dj guy, who's seemingly contented by adequacy, the thing i like about this quiz is that you can learn something.

I would have liked to have seen water vapor in the greenhouse gas question though, that would of stumped a lot of folks I bet.

LOL! I suspect my score is what it is because I work in a highly technical environment populated by folks with 50 pound brains ( I am NOT one of them!) and overhear lots of scientific and technical discussions everyday. Also, I am not sure that this particular quiz classifies as a "major competition". In truth, I was more curious aboiut the nature of the questions than I was about the outcome. I can assure you that had the questions been about medicine, music or car mechanics I probably would have received a zero!

No sports questions or boobies? :dunno:

Ok, I kid, I got 10 out of 13. I'm not telling which 3 I got wrong as it'll make me look even dumber! LOL
