A man was in critical condition Friday night after he poured gasoline on his body and lit himself on fire on the National Mall.
Flames and smoke from the self-immolating man near 7th Street and Jefferson Drive, SW, were visible from the Capitol, where some staffers watched the scene from west facing windows, just a day after a car chase that ended with the shooting death (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/witnesses-tweet-extraordinary-photos-capitol-hill-shooting-drama-article-1.1475517) of a woman just outside the Hart Senate Office Building.



Seems the nut cases are out in force in DC lately.

I'd have to say --crazy is the true reason. I do not believe in deliberately killing oneself for a cause. Always a better path is to live to fight another day IMHO. -Tyr

Reminds me of the monks in Vietnam protesting the govt there.

That's what I've read One of the stories from yesterday said he whispered, 'Thanks' to those who tried to beat down the flames. My guess was mentally ill.

Remember when a large group of monks in India (I believe it was) ALL chopped off their little fingers , wrapped them in a bundle and sent them into a government building to protest? I even back then thought , hell why not chop off some heads if its that damn important? For if not that important why donate a damn finger? :laugh: Just a Dumbass move on their part that changed nothing ... --( key enlarged word is dedicated to Marcus) because he is not here to post it himself. ;)--Tyr
