18 UK mosques 'agree to perform underage marriages'

Religious leaders appeared willing to agree to perform underage marriages at some mosques across the UK, an ITV Exposure investigation discovered.

Two undercover reporters called 56 mosques to ask whether they would perform the marriage of a 14-year-old girl.

Two-thirds of those contacted refused to perform the marriage but 18 of the respondents spoken to agreed.

UK Editor Lucy Manning reports: Sure, now its 18, in a few years it will be all! The Prophet married them 9 years old so ten and eleven should be ok, right? right!!?? --Tyr

Well, that was a clumsy editing job even for trash journalism. They should have got Memri to do it.

'Trash journalism', eh, Jafar ?

You've lived in the UK, so must know for yourself the high standing ITV has over here. They were the second broadcaster to begin here, after the BBC, in the mid 1950's, and the channel this would've been screened on was THE main competitor here in television, until the 1980's.

They have no political or religious agenda. They are the Independent Television company, a bedrock of the UK television industry. A mainstream television outlet.

And in case you've forgotten, Jafar, the BBC's Panorama did a similar sort of programme centred on the Leyton Sharia Council, just a few months ago.

NO. You just can't stand the fact that, TIME AND AGAIN, THE TRUE NATURE OF SHARIA LAW, AND THE MUSLIMS DETERMINED TO PRACTICE IT, ARE SHOWING UP ISLAM'S INSTITUTIONAL PAEDOPHILIA FOR WHAT IT IS.

It's trash journalism because the response by the Imams is heavily edited. You don't get the full picture, only the picture that the ITV agenda wants to present. Muslims = Bad.

How heavily edited by the Imams is all the knowledge THAT POINTS OUT THE ERRORS AND SAVAGERY OF ISLAM? In muslim controlled countries its almost 100% edited out for consumption by the masses. Bring a bible in and get executed or long prison sentence. Yet I've never heard you issue any criticisms about such absolute control and policy of limiting knowledge and expansion of the mind in regards to that..... --Tyr

Nice one !!! Though, given the enormity of the crime .. one that can completely and permanently blight a life .. I think I'd maybe nominate Broadmoor instead.

http://ukpaedos-exposed.com/calls-for-change-in-law/uk-hostelshalf-way-houses/broadmoor-hospital/

Broadmoor Hospital is a high-security psychiatric hospital at Crowthorne in the Borough of Bracknell Forest in Berkshire, England. It is the best known of the three high-security psychiatric hospitals in England, the other two being Ashworth and Rampton. Scotland has a similar institution at Carstairs, officially known as The State Hospital but often called Carstairs Hospital, which serves Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The Broadmoor complex houses about 260 patients, all of whom are men since the female service closed with most of the women moving to a new service in Southall in September 2007, a few moving to the national high secure service for women at Rampton and a few elsewhere. At any one time there are also approximately 36 patients on trial leave at other units. Most of the patients there suffer from severe mental illness; many also have personality disorders. Most have either been convicted of serious crimes, or been found unfit to plead in a trial for such crimes. The average stay for the total population is about six years, but this figure is skewed by some patients who have stayed for over 30 years; most patients stay for considerably less than six years.

A paedophile, even IF indoctrinated into it by a perverse 'religion', surely has to qualify as mentally abnormal !!! Broadmoor Prison seems to fit the bill as a good place to sling perverts into. Though, sadly .. sentencing is so derisory in this country that, as the piece above shows, they just get let out again after a small handful of years.

There's also this ....

... which speaks for itself ....

OK, I'll bite. Jafar, tell us, please, how it is that this pervert Imam has been misrepresented. COME ON !! EXPLAIN IT !

While you're at it, you might like to know that the Daily Mail has picked up the story (page 5 of today's publication). See the online edition ....

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2447720/Clerics-18-mosques-caught-agreeing-marry-girls-14-Four-imams-investigated-undercover-operation.html

More than a dozen Muslim clerics have been caught agreeing to marry off girls as young as 14.

Four imams are now under investigation, after they offered to arrange the illegal ceremonies.

Undercover reporters, posing as the mother and brother of a 14-year-old, contacted 56 mosques across the country and asked clerics to perform an Islamic marriage ceremony, known as a nika.

Imams at 18 mosques agreed – including one who has advised the police.

The preacher was prepared to arrange the nika despite being told that the ‘bride’ was being forced to move in with a man against her wishes.

One imam openly mocked English laws while speaking to reporters from ITV’s Exposure programme.

When told the girl did not want to get married, Mohammed Shahid Akhtar, of the Central Jamia Mosque Ghamkol Sharif in Birmingham, replied: ‘She’s 14. By sharia, grace of God, she’s legal to get married.

‘Obviously Islam has made it easy for us. There is nothing against that. We’re doing it because it’s OK through Islam.’

Agreed

Because you only see them agreeing that there is nothing in Sharia about minimum marriage age. You don't see if they also said that it was against British law however. Their whole interview is just small sound bites strung together.

Nevertheless, if any of them really did agree it is against the law and should be arrested.

While it doesn't diminish the issue in the UK, 14 is the minimum legal age however for places like the Vatican or some US states like New Hampshire or New York (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marriageable_age#Europe) so your outrage may be tempered somewhat by that snippet of info.
