"The commander of the U.S. Navy's sleek new guided-missile destroyer, which launched late last week in Maine, has a name to match its space-age look: Captain Kirk.

Captain James Kirk, the prospective commanding officer of USS Zumwalt, will lead the 610-foot vessel, the Navy's largest destroyer and first of three new Zumwalt-class ships "designed for littoral"operations and land attack," the Navy said (http://www.public.navy.mil/surfor/ddg1000/Pages/FirstZumwaltClassDestroyerLaunched.aspx#.UnETxVMrO CS)."

Now, if his middle name is Tiberius...

I just watched the filmstrip, pretty cool! I'd like to read more about it's power.

HA, cool ship! is it called the enterprise?

this is kinda harsh but came to mind

...Continuing mission to create brave new worlds, to destroy new life and new civilizations to boldly go where no destroyers has gone before...

Captain Kirk's middle initial is "A".

The ships name is USS ZUMWALT, after Chief of Naval Operations ADM. ELMO ZUMWALT

USS ENTERPRISE will be the 3rd of the new class of Gerald R. Ford Aircraft Carriers. (CVN-80). She will be laid down in 2018 with Delivery in 2025. It is certainly possible that Captain Kirk will be around when she is commissioned, although doubtful he will command her as he is in surface operations and not air operations.

As I have said in other places. This new ship IS NOT the largest Navy Destroyer ever.

Fact is. The Navy's Largest Destroyer is Barack H. Obama.
Much like he is also the Army's, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard.

All controlled from the Intentionally Failing, Political FIVE Sided Building called the Pentagon.
