I ordered some paints that contain metal in them, along with some stuff to patina the metal in the paint. Having the CNC router I built some time ago, I wanted to do some stuff that look more like pieces of art, rather than all the wood stuff. This also allows MDF to be used with allows for sharper cuts and less material expense.

So I have a vector file of a Myan calendar that I drew up a few years back, I cut it out of MDF this morning, sanded it up, primed it, then set about using the metal paint and patina.

It is definately something that requires different techniques to get your desired results, but I am not unhappy with the first use of it.

You should start another with the same circular pattern, but this time carve in the Pittsburgh Steelers logo, and maybe 6 Lombardi trophies just underneath it!! :)
