The "recent thanks" portion is not working properly and I am disabling it, will look at later when I return back home.

Seems to be working now. Can you guys update this thread if you have any issues, whether giving thanks, or viewing your thanks?

Checking recent thanks is still slower than clicking on anything else. Until I can fully get a grasp on this, I have changed the amount of recent thanks that appear on the destination page from 25 down to 15, to limit the SQL queries, I think. I'm looking for support on the issue and will hopefully put things back to the way they were once settled.

Holy crap, I'm such an ass!! Well, lets confirm that. PLEASE update here whether or not you see a large slowdown when checking your thanks, or whether it loads like all other pages. Fyi - along the navigation bar at the top of the board, you will see - New Posts - Private Messages - Recent Thanks - Activity Stream -

Just pointing that out, as you can always click on the recent thanks, whether you have current thanks or not. I'll fill you guys in on my stupidity if I did in fact just fix this.

I tried clicking on the recent thanks about an hour ago and got data base error. Might have been while you were working on it. The one thanks it said I had was not noted after that.

Yeah, and I got an automated email when you got that error, which spurred me working on it again this morning. I wasn't working on it, but what you saw is WHY I am working on it. Thx for update!!

I tried and tried since we moved, guys, but I think I failed this one. It appears the database portion for the thanks system was corrupted somehow. Sometimes it worked (depending on data being pulled I guess), and other times it hung the SQL server and gave errors, while everything else has been flawless.

I tried re-installing various things and tweaking and testing, but it kept coming back. I had little alternative but to uninstall and re-install the 2 products that compromise the thanks system. Unfortunately, this means that all previous thanks made and thanks given have now been lost. I knew that going into the uninstall, but didn't have a choice, and it's better than a slow board and getting errors.

I'm not even sure yet that this fixed it, but if this doesn't, nothing will and it'll be 86'd. Let's test today and hope it's fixed.

So we all start fresh with the thanks. I don't think many "counted" anyway, at least not like reputation. I mean, who goes back and looks at posts from a year ago to see if it were thanked anyway? This add-on is a "present time" type of software where it's nice to be thanked as we make decent posts that others may appreciate. In that respect, hopefully nothing has changed.

Oh yeah, back to that. It turned out what I did wasn't the resolution, so my mistake was harmless, but still funny nonetheless!

I use FTP to transfer files back and forth to the server. Each server must be named in the program, whatever you want to call it. For this site, I simply have "DP". Temporarily, I named our new host "temp", until all things were sorted and working. Well, when first working on this "thanks" issue, I was continually deleting and re-uploading files - on the old server - and then of course testing here on the new server. :buttkick:

Thank you Jim and thank you one and all for your many past thanks. I would like to thank my Dad for raising me to be a hellraiser when its called for. My Mom for teaching me that women are beautiful and are to be protected from the evils of this world (which includes evil men -;)) . Thank all my school teachers for their time and inspiration and thank God for family, friends and even the foes that inspire me to be defiant and relentless in my destruction of all that seeks to harm me and mine. And finally, thanks to all the beautiful women that wear those ever so skimpy bikinis. They inspire me too. Last but not least lets be thankful for the military that protects us and the Constitution that insures our freedoms. Did I leave anybody out??? :laugh2:--Tyr

Were you nominated for an oscar and your practicing your acceptance speech? :poke: I thought it was a humorous bit and folks might get a kick out of it.. I once knew a guy named Oscar. He was Orville Shagnasty's thirdest kozin' . Used to make and sell illegal homebrew back in the 60's and modify a shotgun for home use for 3 or 4 bucks(illegal to do)! I never needed his weapon modification service but the homebrew I did indulge in a few dozen times when we ran dry on a Sunday. Well, ole Oscar had a line of women that he used to sell for service if ya know what I mean. I got that from my older brother and a few of his friends. I had seen those ladies a few times in the car with Oscar and trust me --I ain't never been that hard up or blind crazy drunk either!--Tyr
