Justice Blocks Contraception Mandate
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON — A Supreme Court justice has blocked the carrying out of portions of President Obama’s health care law that would have forced some religion-affiliated organizations to provide health insurance for employees that includes birth control coverage.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s decision came Tuesday night after a different effort by Catholic-affiliated groups that rushed to the federal courts to stop Wednesday’s start of portions of the Affordable Care Act.

Justice Sotomayor acted on a request from an order of Catholic nuns in Colorado, whose request for a stay had been denied by the lower courts.

Justice Sotomayor is giving the government until Friday morning to respond to her decision.

Cool, so are you saying that if people brought abortion "rights" to the COTUS that she might vote to ban the procedure?

Um, that's not necessarily the same thing. More than just Catholics speak against contraceptives, and when you get down to it, if you're so set on BC, and don't/can't snag another job, buy condoms. There's really nothing they can say on that point, and condoms are not expensive.

Birth control pills arent expensive either. Many pharmacies have them for under $10 now. Of course, some want things for free.

And that's the key problem with anything that is tacked on. When it becomes common, people become attached, and there is suddenly no way to remove it, because people will scream over it, even if it would be cheaper overall for them to buy the same thing in stores.

It's basically like what happens with many sales: If two places sell the exact same foreman grill for the exact same price, but one store has a 40% off sign on it, while the other has no such sign, then the store with the 40% off sign will easily out-sell the other one.
