Since we have had the winter form hell, I thought I would take a weekend and change out my bars on the bike. I had some Beach Bars that were a little uncomfortable on longer rides. I went with a 10 inch Ape Hanger that REALLY improved the comfort of the arms and I like the look of the black bars with the black cherry color of the bike. 58805881

Gotta excuse how dirty the bike is its been a little cold to wash the bike:cool:

If you look closely you can see Trigg in the mirror

Nice!

As I said in a thread down below, I am hooked on the tv show "homeland", and am reminded of Trigg in certain scenes as she reminds me of one of the main characters, Claire Danes:

Gabby: his bike has a very comfy seat and large backrest for me. Much nicer than his other bike, it's seat was hard as a rock :(

It looks better when its CLEAN.... I switched out some beach bars (very uncomfortable for anything over 100 miles) These seem to be a LOT better. will let you know in a couple of months . When it "finally" warms up enough and get the snow and salt off the road... Been thinking of taking a ride down to Kentucky this summer for a long weekend, I love going through the mountains..

they are a type of bar that rise up a little but not like those high rise bars you see on some choppers. Generally if you go over 8 inches in height they are considered "ape hangers" of course the 8-12 range are mini and 14 and up are pretty goofy looking if you ask me.. Here's a pic of some REALLY tall apes!!!

They look nice Nuke but I can see where on a all day run they may get uncomfortable, but man those guys with the Apes don't look so comfy either , most have them way to high sitting on a rigid frame, when I was young that spelled beauty now it spells pain

I am thinking on having a set of Apes made, I want them about shoulder height ( that looks to be the most comfortable area ) but I have all braided chrome lines on the bike now, it is going to get rather costly to replace them with longer ones, but I think it will be more comfortable in the long run and it will look great !!

Luck that almost anything fits a road King and Dyna. My buddy has the drive-by-wire on his classic and it cost him a fortune for new bars.. They don't make many with that option...

You should look on JP cycles for new bars they have EVERYTHING you could possibly need..

I am a Gold member at J&P

I set up a VTX 1300

I also set up the Tour Deluxe I now have for sale , both cost me less than a grand to chrome them up and make them comfortable to ride and in the long run the added work made me about a grand on the VTX , the Tour Deluxe is yet to be seen :thumb:
