A theory on successful counterinsurgency strategy. The article is not too long, but there are dozens, if not hundreds, of comments on the same page. An awesome read.

Awesome, thanks. Blackfive is one of my favorite sites, Grim is one of the best. Jimbos videos are hilarious. Matt is like a one man ad for the military. I've been lucky enough to email some with him. He lives pretty close to me. I just reread this, have you read it?

No, I hadn't even heard of it. I find that I'm typically too busy to keep up with most blogs, which is why I like coming here: people usually post the 'best' of what they've read elsewhere. I do like blackfive, though.

You'd like it. It's a compilation of Blackfive entries covering various viewpoints of the war:

The Healers
The Warriors
The Homefront
The Fallen
etc.

I'm not a military-minded person and I find some of it a bit fetishist but that's a minor quibble.

The article itself is good. One of the reasons it's "good" is that it's stripping the thinking process of unhelpful ideas such as 'we have to hate Islam and Muslims". Banging on about "Jihadis" and "Islamists" might be okay for letting off a bit of steam but it doesn't get much done.
