He then returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again. 2014 - Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He is then tested for ADD. The family gets extra money (SSI) from the government because Jeffrey has a disability.

Scenario 4: Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt. 1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college and becomes a successful businessman. 2014 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse, Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy's sister that she remembers being abused (spanked) herself and their dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has an affair with the psychologist.

Johnny's dad is placed on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.

Over 90% of those modern results brought to us by the dem/lib/socialist party. In 1960 I was in the first grade . We farm kids missed the first 6 to 8 weeks school picking cotton. Tried that now and our parents would be pit in jail and we into foster homes. I missed the first 6 to 8 weeks of school until my father died in 1969. Schools allowed it and I made straight A's in every class all the way to graduation. By the way was in advanced classes . I don't think schools even allow that now, might hurt somebody's feelings. Tis why I retaught my daughter all her school years and have already started with my son now! Most new young teachers now haven't got a damn clue. A fact, the average 1938 high school graduate was far more educated than is the average 4 year college graduate now! And that fact was in place in the 1990 's it has only gotten worse since then . --Tyr

I agree with ya Gaby, God those old stories always bored me, it seems like my parents had to walk through a Blizzard everyday to get to school :laugh:

But this is a bit different and only a liberal ( given the shape of our Country right now ) would try and pass this off as old people telling tales about how rough they had it, this is more truth than most want to hear and it is destroying our Country, when we teach our Kids to have no morals ( or at least the wrong set ) then we get grown ups that have no Morals and some of those idiots go into politics and then we wind up with a Jr. senator, community adviser , Pot Head , Liar, wanna a be Dictator running things and a bunch of brainless libs following his every word ( not knowing what they are agreeing with ) as he tells one lie after another.

I do not know how young Gabby is but learning about history , even personal history of obstacles overcame by "we old people" is a necessary part of the learning curve of children. For it gives mile posts and a sense of the world for comparison. Along with knowledge that such hardships can not only be endured but overcome and so often makes us stronger and better people. I know my father and mother had it much harder than we did and trust me we had no picnic..--Tyr

Everyone views the battlefield from their own foxhole. Some folks are born with a silver spoon in their mouth and wouldn't know adversity if it was pumped up their butt with a fire hose. There are others who suffer more adversity than we can imagine. It is how we deal with adversity that measures the character of a person. It is my opinion that the moral of the story a lot of old geezers tell is just that ... (along with a bit of bragging on how well that particular geezer did despite the adversity of walking to school, barefoot, uphill, both ways, in a blinding blizzard, every day)
